Justin Fields News
Justin Fields traded to Pittsburgh · Mar 16, 2024
The Chicago Bears have traded Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a conditional draft choice.
The conditional sixth round pick could become a fourth round pick depending on just how much time Fields get on the, well, field. Pittsburgh entered the week with Kenny Pickett as their starter and ended the week with Russell Wilson playing on a minimum contract and Fields as his backup for what amounts to pocket change. When you consider what the Steelers got back from the Eagles for Pickett, it looks like highway robbery. Regardless, Fields should slot in as Wilson's backup and be ready to take over should Russ fail to cook next season. Wilson is also on a one year deal so the Steelers will take 2023 to heavily evaluate both players. As for his dynasty value, this is tragic for Fields. He's still roster worthy but he's also likely going to be just taking up a roster spot for some time now.
Justin Fields linked to four teams · Mar 3, 2024
Bears quarterback Justin Fields has been linked to Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Las Vegas and Minnesota recently.
It seems nearly inevitable we see Fields traded here soon and each of these four make sense as long as Minnesota lets Kirk Cousins hit free agency. Chicago is all but certain to be targeting a quarterback at the top of this year's draft and it;s widely regarded to be USC's Caleb Williams. If that's indeed the plan, Fields is going to be on the market and could likely be fetched for a second or third round pick. Fields has proven to be a good quarterback with some elite games thus far but a change of scenery seems inevitable. Stay tuned as this simply more speculation. Dynasty managers need to simply hold tight to Fields at the moment.
Justin Fields linked to Pittsburgh · Feb 15, 2024
The Steelers have been mentioned as a possible trade suitor for Justin Fields.
It makes sense on paper as Pittsburgh has not been impressed with Kenny Pickett, likely don't see Mason Rudolph as a long-term answer and let Mitchell Trubisky go this week. Without a high first round pick this season, the Steelers may need to get creative in order to find a solid solution. Fields would make sense as Mike Tomlin is reportedly a fan and the Bears are likely open for business and very apt to use the #1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on Fields' replacement. There will be a ton of rumors and speculation over the next couple of months but this one makes some sense. Fields is a fringe QB1 who could be a valuable trade chip in coming weeks.
Justin Fields makes statement · Dec 31, 2023
Justin Fields completed 20-of-32 passes for 268 yards, adding 45 rushing yards and another score in a win against Atlanta.
The Panthers lost today, giving the Bears the #1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The speculation will now begin as the Bears will have a decision to make with Fields for the second year in a row, Last year, they moved the #1 pick to Carolina for a boatload, including DJ Moore. This year, they'll likely have no shortage of suitors for the shot at taking Caleb Williams or Drake Maye. Fields has played well this year but Chicago is going to need to decide if they want to keep a top-15 quarterback or shoot for the stars. Chances are Fields will make his last start for the Bears next week but stay tuned as this will be a story to watch in dynasty leagues all off-season long.
Justin Fields unimpressive · Dec 18, 2023
Bears quarterback Justin Fields completed just 19-of-40 passes for 166 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in Chicago's loss to Cleveland.
With each passing week, it seems more and more likely this is Fields last season in Chicago. With the Bears likely getting the #1 overall pick in the draft, it seems a near certainty they'll take a quarterback and move on from Fields. While he has some amazing ability, there are also a lot of clunkers like today that seem to pop up. Fields' dynasty value is in flux as he currently sits on the QB2 line.
Justin Fields perseveres · Nov 28, 2023
Justin Fields led the Bears to a last second field goal and victory over the Vikings in week 12.
Any way you slice it, it was an ugly performance by both teams. Fields was able to overcome two lost fumbles late in the game to secure the win. On the night, he threw for 217 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions but didn't help to answer any questions about his potential future in the Windy City. Still only 24, Fields faces an uncertain future as the team holds two first round selections in the upcoming NFL Draft, including the projected first-overall selection acquired from the Panthers as part of the trade that allowed Carolina to select Bryce Young. Listed as DLF's QB10, it's fair to say that it's possible Fields could have more success for another team in 2024 but may also benefit should he remain in Chicago with the team adding much needed receiver depth
Justin Fields auditioning · Nov 22, 2023
The remainder of the 2023 season is "effectively an audition" for Justin Fields to remain with the Bears during the offseason.
The Bears are still projected to own the first-overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft and would presumably take Caleb Williams if they don't deem Fields to be the long-term answer at quarterback. At this juncture, it seems like 50-50 odds for Fields to remain with the team beyond 2023 though it has also been mentioned that the team would need to be in "love" with a prospect before considering moving on. In any case, Justin Fields, DLF's QB10, is the master of his own fate as it relates to his time in Chicago. For Fields' dynasty managers, it's not out of the question that a trade to a new team wouldn't be of even more benefit to his long term production and value.
Justin Fields to return · Nov 15, 2023
Justin Fields is expected to start in week 11 against the Lions.
It's good news for the Bears and dynasty managers as the team's slim playoff chances remain on the respirator. Looking into 2024, the Bears are staring down the potential choice of using one of its two high draft selections, potentially first-overall, on an 'upgrade' at quarterback or, instead, continuing to build around Fields via offensive line and receiver talent. With the thumb injury now behind him, expect all eyes to remain on the 24-year-old mobile quarterback over the balance of his remaining games and a decision to come on his future with the team closer to, or during, the NFL draft. Listed as DLF's QB9, it's possible Fields benefits whether he remains in Chicago or is shipped to another team.
Justin Fields nears return · Nov 9, 2023
Although doubtful to play in week 10, Justin Fields is nearing a return
A near certain bet to miss the playoffs, the Bears are playing for the 2024 NFL Draft in which they possess two selections, both projected to be within the top five. As for Fields, he's playing to be part of the team's plan in 2024 as it's a relatively strong quarterback class at the top of the draft and the Bears could choose to reboot at the position. While you can't fault Fields for not producing well given the state of his receivers in the past, they did add DJ Moore this past offseason and continue to build at the position. Fields hasn't shown the ability to consistently put the team on his shoulders during times of adversity but could be a value-on addition in dynasty formats during the second half of the season. He's found as DLF's QB9 and faces an uncertain future in Chicago with a trade in 2024 potentially increasing his value.
Justin Fields dislocates his thumb · Oct 16, 2023
Bears quarterback Justin Fields dislocated his thumb in Chicago's loss against Minnesota.
Fields attempted to go back into the game but couldn't make it work. He was replaced by Tyler Bagent and let's just say that didn't go well. Fields will be evaluated this week but he's clearly in danger of missing time and that could be big as the Bears season begins to spiral. With Chicago staring at two possible top-five picks, this injury is important to monitor.
