The Dynasty Aftermath: Tragedy at an Aerobics Competition

Ken Kelly

Welcome to DLF’s Dynasty Aftermath. This staple article is our longest running signature piece as we have a little fun after a tough week at the Dynasty League Football office. You’ll find this article will review the week’s happenings in a variety of ways and help set you up for the coming weeks as we spin around the league in the way we know best. Expect it each and every week.

I’ve written this column for the past sixteen years and I love it. I enjoy combing through the stats of the week on Monday night, putting together ridiculous lineups, picking MVPs/LVPs and discussing things to worry about.

That’s not all. I also really love sharing observations, little bits of entertainment or some stories with the community of DLF and picking a theme for this column each week. You really never know what you’re going to get.

Like I said last week, I usually find a comedy sketch, think of a story, or find a general theme for this article, then think of some kind of fantasy football lesson. This week was very different as I again already knew what the lesson needed to be for folks – don’t think your leaguemates are your friends! Just as the (again perfect) sketch shows, you have to remember people are sometimes cutthroat and everyone is in this thing to stay on top and win, whether it’s aerobics or fantasy football. It’s getting to the playoff times, so it’s time for you to go into Lone Wolf mode! Trust nobody!

Fantasy MVP of the Week

Jalen Hurts has been a revelation all season and this week’s performance was another indication he’s here to say. The best part is he had only 12 rushing yards and was still dominant with 380 passing yards and four total touchdowns against a Tennessee defense that’s been solid all season. There is no question Hurts is a dynasty QB1 and will be for the foreseeable future.

Fantasy LVP of the Week

Let’s stay with the quarterbacks for a moment. Lamar Jackson started out super hot this season, but he’s really cooled off now. Even prior to his injury, he hasn’t had a dominant performance since week three and it’s fair to wonder just what his future is going to be in Baltimore. It’s fair to wonder if his contract situation is taking its toll on him mentally. His 11 passing yards and nine rushing yards didn’t help matters this week.

Gut Checks

I’d be worried if I was in an aerobics competition.

I’d be worried if I needed Alvin Kamara to win my league.

I’d be worried if I was playing against Joe Burrow.

I’d be worried if I was ignoring the play of Greg Dulcich.

I’d be worried if I was still hesitant on playing Geno Smith.

I’d be worried if I lived near Camp Lejeune.  I know it doesn’t fit, but that sounds pretty bad.

I’d be worried if I was relying on Jakobi Meyers.

I’d be worried if I was still holding out hope for Skyy Moore this season.

I’d be worried if I thought Dalvin Cook wasn’t due for one more big game.

I’d be worried if I had given up on Christian Kirk.

I’d be worried if I was ignoring Zonovan Knight.

I’d be worried if I needed big games from Dameon Pierce.

I’d be worried if I was still starting Tom Brady.

I’d be worried if I thought Cam Akers was back.

I’d be worried if I thought this was a mirage from Samaje Perine.

I’d be worried if I was down on Jameson Williams.

I’d be worried if I was hesitant on starting Rhamondre Stevenson.

I’d be worried if I was playing against Tony Pollard.

I’d be worried if I thought Isiah Pacheco was out of the woods.

I’d be worried if I thought Jonathan Taylor was still the 1.01.

I’d be worried if I was ignoring Nico Collins.

I’d be worried if I missed out on Amon-Ra St. Brown.

I’d be worried if I thought Mike White didn’t have a chance to win that job.

I’d be worried if I needed consistency from DeVonta Smith.

The Rookie Top 20

Always check our latest rankings to see the updates through the week. These rankings are simply my own.

1.) Breece Hall, RB NYJ
Walker still hasn’t done enough to overtake him for me and he’s the only one I can see doing it.

2.) Kenneth Walker, RB SEA
That injury stinks.

3.) Chris Olave, WR NO
Quarterback play is killing him.

4.) Garrett Wilson, WR NYJ
Can Mike White really be the savior?

5.) Drake London, WR ATL
I think he’s good. I just honestly don’t know it yet.

6.) Jameson Williams, WR DET
Quiet debut. Better days to come.

7.) Christian Watson, WR GB
OK, this is getting serious now.

Too quiet for too long.

9.) Dameon Pierce, RB HOU
The Texans are really, really bad.

Great catch in traffic. Too much traffic, though.

Could still rise to the top eight or so when all is said and done.

12.) George Pickens, WR PIT
Meh.

13.) Brian Robinson, RB WAS
Another decent game, but I don’t trust him.
