The Lions have signed David Montgomery to a two-year contract extension.
The contract makes Montgomery the seventh-highest paid running back in the league and keeps him under team control through the 2027 season. This is a big development in dynasty leagues as it not only keeps Montgomery very relevant, but also takes any chance of Jahmyr Gibbs being a featured runner in the future and throws it out the window. At this point, both running backs are going to be very lineup worthy, but far from elite without an injury occurring. Montgomery's value should rise a touch while Gibbs is sure to fall as a result.
