Dynasty Fantasy Football Rankings: Cornerstone Report, Week 11

Shane Hallam

Welcome to the Cornerstone Report where we will check in on the young players in football (2024 eligible, rookies, and second year) each week! As the hottest commodities in dynasty and devy, these players can make or break your teams in the future. Here are some of the top headlines and reports for the future of the league.

Jonathon Brooks, RB Texas tears his ACL and weakens 2024 class

The RB1 for the 2024 NFL Draft was wide open, and Brooks had been a dark horse who took off running. Dominant on the ground replacing Bijan Robinson, the third-year runner had it all. This past week against TCU, disaster struck and Brooks tore his ACL, ending his season. With a hernia last season and now the torn ACL, injury questions will remain for Brooks. He might return to school, into a logjam at the RB position. Ultimately, this really gives a hit to the 2024 rookie class for dynasty players and weakens an already ailing RB group.

Devontez Walker, WR North Carolina has a statement game

The 2024 NFL Draft WR class is stacked. With as many as seven receivers as potential first-round picks, it will be an exciting injection of talent. One player not to forget about is Walker who has been putting up big numbers as Drake Maye’s main target. An ideal NFL slot receiver, Walker’s athleticism has been showcased. He could be more coveted in the NFL than current devy rankings show.

CJ Stroud, QB HOU having an MVP-type season

Stroud went toe to toe with Joe Burrow and the Bengals, pulling off another victory. He threw for 356 yards and a touchdown (along with only his second interception this season). Add in a rushing touchdown, and Stroud was in rare form for a rookie. There are starting to be some rumblings of MVP talk as Stroud is second in the NFL in passing yardage and not slowing down anytime soon.

Jahmyr Gibbs, RB DET out-touches David Montgomery for a big game

Gibbs had been pretty dominant the past few weeks with Montgomery out with injury, but questions remained for fantasy owners about how the touches would go with Montgomery coming back. He had 14 rushes for 77 yards and scored two touchdowns. Add in three receptions, and Gibbs’ 17 touches to Montgomery’s nine showed faith in the rookie moving forward.

Brian Robinson, RB WAS the top-scoring RB

In one of the most surprising stats of the year, Robinson was the first to be RB1 overall for two weeks of the season in PPR. Due to his six receptions for 119 yards and a touchdown, Robinson ended with 27.70 fantasy points. Thought of as a plodder, Robinson has actually been used by offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy as a receiving back and it has paid off.

Trey McBride, TE ARI becomes favorite target of Kyler Murray

With Murray coming back, the target distribution for Cardinals weapons was in question. Almost immediately, McBride became the go-to target both in short range and down the field. His eight receptions for 131 yards were by far the highest on the team. A reliable hands target, McBride showed a knack for getting open and making tough catches that Murray seemed to appreciate.
