Saquon Rasul Quevis Barkley is an American football running back for the New York Giants of the National Football League. Prior to entering the NFL in 2018, Barkley played college football at Penn State, where he set several all-time school records for his offensive production over three seasons before foregoing his senior year to enter the NFL.

Giants running back Saquon Barkley revealed he's indeed dealing with a high ankle sprain.
Well, that changes things. Barkley was supposedly day-to-day going into the TNF game but this makes that sentiment a little far-fetched. The Giants don't play again until Monday Night Football but dynasty managers are likely not going to be able to wait on a game-time decision and will likely be without his services for at least one week, likely longer.

Saquon Barkley is week-to-week and could miss up to three weeks after an MRI showed an "ordinary" ankle sprain
It's good news for Barkley as it could have been much worse with some fearing a fracture or the dreaded high-ankle sprain. Instead, it's a 'garden variety' sprain and he'll likely miss two to three games. It will be difficult to replace one of the top backs in fantasy but he should be back behind Daniel Jones in short order. He's listed as DLF's RB5 and another injury could pressure his current ranking.

Barkley reportedly injured his ankle late in the game while leading the Giants to an improbable comeback win against Arizona. Early indications point to a possible high ankle sprain, which would put Barkley on the wrong side of questionable for Thursday's game against San Francisco. Ever dominant on the field but seemingly frequently injured, Barkley may just be looking at another season with some lost games. Stay tuned.

Saquon Barkley signed a one-year contract to remain with the Giants for the 2023 season
It's a modest increase with a fully-guaranteed $10.1M and another $900,000+ available via incentives. Interestingly enough, Barkley did not include a "no franchise tag" clause as part of the new agreement, meaning that we could be in the same boat this time in 2024. Everyone can now breathe a sigh of relief as one of the NFL's best talents at the position will report to camp and be highly motivated to produce in his contract year. Listed as DLF's RB5, Barkley does not turn 27 until early 2024.

Giants running back Saquon Barkley could sit out regular season games if a new contract is not in place soon.
The newly franchise tagged running back is in no laughing mood as he clearly wants a long-term deal in place. Barkley was a comeback player of the year candidate last season as he recorded over 1,300 rushing yards and ten touchdowns. However, the Giants chose to extend Daniel Jones instead of Barkley and used the tag on him for the season instead. It seems Barkley has his heels dug in and Monday is the deadline for something to get done. Should they fail to reach an agreement, Barkley is going to be a risky hold as our RB5.

Saquon Barkley could sit out 2023 as he angles for a new contract
Highly unlikely. Sitting out hasn't worked out well in recent years and Barkley stands to make $10.1M on his 2023 franchise tag offer. Without being close to a deal, the 26-year-old continues to sit out and things could come to a head as training camp nears. The presence of Dalvin Cook on the open market not only continues to hamper running backs looking for big contracts but, in the case of Barkley, also opens up the option that the team rescinds his franchise tag and signs Cook to a a cheaper deal. Likely? No. Possible? Yes. Found as DLF's RB5, it would seem that Saquon Barkley's situation isn't close to being resolved.

Saquon Barkley is not expected to sign his franchise tag offer
Barkley won't be available to join the team for the start of the offseason program. The Giants still hope to work out a long term deal with the back so there's no reason to sound the alarm just yet. Running backs continue to fall with respect to value and compensation and while a long term deal is still possible, it seems just as likely the resurgent Barkley bets on himself for a single year. In either case, it will be a shock if DLF's RB5 isn't on the field for the Giants at the start of the regular season.
