In a pair of events impacting Jonathan Taylor, the star running back was not traded and the Colts placed him on the reserve/PUP list.
Taylor will miss at least the first four games of the regular season and will remain in Indy. We'd pay a lot of money to be a fly on the wall for Taylor's conversation(s) with his agent. This event has all the feeling of not being done and with more events to come. But regardless, Taylor won't suit up for the next four games, limiting his value to the team and his dynasty managers. Look for the Colts to deal the disgruntled back by the trade deadline (10/31). Should that not be accomplished, he'll be a candidate for an increased-value franchise tag again in 2024. Taylor is listed as DLF's RB3 and is without leverage.

Jonathan Taylor is receiving trade interest from the Dolphins
The Dolphins, once again, appear to be in the market for a carry-the-load option, but only if the price is right. The Colts are said to be looking for a first round selection in return. The Dolphins swung and missed on Dalvin Cook based on compensation, but Taylor represents a younger and, potentially, long term option. It's possible Taylor, who has been given a Tuesday deadline by the Colts to get a trade completed, may be looking for anything close to the current market to get out of Indi, though the team is in control as to whether the compensation is enough to give up their disgruntled star. This situation should come to a head quickly. Taylor remains DLF's RB3.

The Colts have given running back Jonathan Taylor permission to see a trade.
In the latest chapter of "Running Backs aren't important," it seems the Colts are losing patience with their star runner and willing to move him to another team. Taylor has been very outspoken about his disdain for comments about his position made by Team Owner Jim Irsay and it seems this situation could be beyond repair. However, the Colts are now going to need to be compensated to trade him and it's hard to see a team willing to give up a lot for a running back who will also demand a new contract shortly. Taylor is a top three dynasty running back asset but fantasy managers have to be on pins and needles to see how this whole thing plays out.

Jonathan Taylor left training camp again, this time with an excused absence
The disgruntled running back had a "personal matter" and is not currently with the team. No further information is available and we just have to hope he'll be back with the team soon, healthy, and ready to roll. The plight of NFL running backs appears to be coming to a head and it's only going to take a major injury for the tinder box to explode. At the forefront of the issue are now Taylor and Josh Jacobs, both of whom have little leverage unless they're willing to sacrifice their 2023 compensation. Even then, it only kicks the can down the road. As for Taylor, he's in the last year of his rookie contract and could be a free agent in 2024 if he successfully completes a league year in 2023. He'll be a candidate for his first franchise tag by the team in 2024, a move which is certain to draw further ire. As for 2023, the hope is simply for Taylor to return to the team healthy and to assume his place behind new starter Anthony Richardson in week one of the regular season. He's found as DLF's RB3.

Jonathan Taylor is expected to be back with the team this week.
Being back with the team and practicing are two different things. Taylor said he won't return to the field until he's 100% healthy and that may, or may not, be the case. In the last year of his deal, Taylor will make $4.3M and head into free agency next offseason - if he accrues a year of time in 2023. Then, the Colts could apply a franchise tag or two over the next two seasons. He has no leverage for 2023 and it's fully expected he'll be back with the team and practicing before the regular season begins. It gets interesting in 2024 when multiple high profile running backs will hit the market. As for Taylor, he's listed as DLF's RB3 and could be in play for a value-on acquisition from coaches nervous about his near-term future.

The divide between Jonathan Taylor and the Colts is widening
This divide has quickly become more toxic than the other running back contract issues leaguewide. The dispute now is about "phantom" back pain which may or may not be present. Taylor took aim at "sources" (reporters) when the target should be the team. Of course, this all came to a head following Jim Irsay's harsh words regarding Taylor's contract status and value to the Colts. This is getting ugly and there's no telling how it could end. As of now, Taylor remains under contract for what will be his last season as a Colt. It's hard to see him back with the team in 2024 at this point and, frankly, 2023 could be in question. Taylor is found as DLF's RB3.

Colts running back Jonathan Taylor has asked for a trade.
Taylor met with Colts owner Jim Irsay following the owner's controversial quotes regarding the state of the running back contracts in the league and requested the trade after failing to hear what he wanted to. Irsay apparently is refusing to deal his star running back so we'll see just how serious Taylor wants to make this. If cooler heads prevail, this will go away quickly. If they don't, this is going to get very interesting in a hurry for our RB3. Stay tuned.
