Five in Five: Week Thirteen Dynasty Storylines

Ken Kelly

Over the years, we’ve done several different weekly preview articles and love to give new things a try. This is the time of year when it’s nearly information overload with every nook and cranny of the internet flooded with all kinds of fantasy football opinions and advice. Instead of following the herd and doing the same thing you’re used to, we’re going a little off the wall this year with our “Five in Five.” This is a weekly written preview of the five biggest storylines of the week encompassed in a five-section theme and in the way I love to do it – weird. It will also be a bit of a preview for my weekly Dynasty Aftermath – the longest running dynasty series in the business as we hit year #17 in 2023 as we bring you five possible storylines we could see on Monday Morning. I’m adding another piece to this for the rest of the year and that’s a prediction of what I think could produce that particular headline.

Who’s the Moss?

The fantasy football world was stunned this week when the Colts announced Jonathan Taylor was going to be out for at least 2-3 weeks with a thumb injury that required surgery. This opens the door again for Zack Moss, who was fantastic earlier this season as Taylor was rehabbing. Through the first five weeks of the year, Moss was the RB6 overall with three monster games of 20.7, 22.5, and 33.5 fantasy points as part of that run. With the Colts still in the playoff hunt and Gardner Minshew under center, they’re likely going to use Moss a ton over the next few weeks (Trey Sermon is also a valuable pickup at the moment). If Moss can rekindle the magic he had earlier in the season, he’s going to be a major factor as we reach the fantasy playoffs and likely earn himself a pretty nice free agent contract after the season – two things dynasty managers are very interested in at the moment.

Prediction: Moss posts a 100-yard game with a touchdown against the Titans.

Meet the Robinson

Dynasty managers have been mostly disappointed in the output of Bijan Robinson this season. It’s been frustrating because it’s clear Robinson is a massive talent but the Falcons have been very reluctant to really make him the centerpiece of their offense, until last week that is. Robinson had 16 carries and three catches last week for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Even better, he had six total targets to go along with those 16 carries. If the Falcons finally give him this kind of workload, we’re going to see just what the Falcons have against a tough Jets defense.

Prediction: Things are tougher this week for Robinson against the Jets. He posts 65 rushing yards, three catches, 20 receiving yards and fails to score against a stingy defense.

Feel the Love

When we last saw Jordan Love , he was having a Thanksgiving feast of his own, tying his career high with three touchdown passes in a stunning road win against the Lions. It’s been the tale of three seasons for Love. He started the year with three touchdown games in weeks one and two, then had a seven-game run where he posted just eight touchdowns and ten interceptions. His last two games have been dominant, however, as he’s posted five touchdowns and no turnovers. Are we done seeing the see-saw performances from him or has he finally turned the corner? With so many quarterbacks out for the season, dynasty managers are hungry for one more solid starting option and a solid game against Kansas City on Sunday Night would go a long way in instilling some confidence moving forward.

Prediction: Love stays on a heater with 250 passing yards, with two touchdowns and one interception.

Kittles and Bits

George Kittle has had one weird season so far. As I posted in the Dynasty Aftermath this week, it’s been feast or famine for Kittle and his dynasty managers throughout the year and his game log illustrates it. kittlestats

The 49ers play in what could be the game of the year as they take on the Eagles in an NFC showdown. Dynasty managers are getting desperate for additional options at the tight end position and more consistency from Kittle would be a huge development as we make the run to the playoffs. Kittle is a TE1 and the overall TE5 on the season but he’s either won or lost weeks throughout the season for dynasty managers, who would simply take his 13 point average each week and be done with the up-and-down performances.

Prediction: Kittle finds some room against the Eagles defense and catches five passes for 65 yards, giving dynasty managers what they want, or at least what they need.

LA Faker?

Kyren Williams may just be the player who decides fantasy championships this season. Based on his scoring average, Williams is the overall RB2 on the season. He’s played in seven games this year and been absolutely dominant in four of them.

We’ve seen Sean McVay’s running backs post some absolutely ridiculous numbers throughout the years and Williams is poised to be the latest Rams running back to be a difference maker in dynasty leagues. While his long-term value is still something of a mystery, a good stretch of games would make him a very intriguing player to both rank and acquire over the off-season. First things first, though. Williams will play what has been a dominant Browns defense at times and attempt to solidify himself as a trule elite and “set it and forget it” option in fantasy leagues.

Prediction: Williams stays hot with 125 total yards and at least one score.

The playoff push is upon us!

Make sure to get your lineup questions in! We’ll see you next week for the Dynasty Aftermath!
