Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid won't participate in drills at the NFL Combine due to a late-season back injury in 2022.
By all accounts, 2023 remains a very deep class at the tight end position and Kincaid has routinely been pegged as the TE2 in this year's field, behind only Notre Dame's Michael Mayer. Kincaid profiles as an undersized-but-athletic playmaker and his Combine measurements will be closely scrutinized. His size could limit his blocking ability as has been seen on tape but he fits the bill for those seeking athletic ex-basketball players who have shown success at the next level. As pointed out in the article, undersized tight ends already don't typically have success in the NFL and 245 lbs. is the mark to watch. Rookie tight ends have a long acclimation period into the NFL as is. Kincaid is found as DLF's rookie TE2 and the R25 overall.

In Todd McShay's first mock draft following the Super Bowl, Dalton Kincaid is selected by the Bengals 28th-overall.
Hayden Hurst is a free agent and the team has wide-open need at the position. Notre Dame rookie Michael Mayer headlines the position but Kincaid has been a popular first-round selection in mock drafts. The Bengals have multiple needs and this seems to be a luxury pick given the depth of this year's tight end class in combination with a relatively deep free agent class, but it remains a possibility. Kincaid profiles as an athletic pass-catcher and would fit what the Bengals do on offense. He's found as DLF's TE2 and the R27 overall.
