Dynasty Injury Report: Week 14

Jeff Mueller

My name is Jeff Mueller, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and I am here to help guide you through these weekly injuries and provide helpful insight into how bad the injury is and what the expected timeline for recovery is for your key player. The weekly injury roundup will be posted on Wednesdays to discuss injuries that just occurred. I would also encourage you to tune in to the DLF YouTube channel (make sure to subscribe!) to tune in to helpful content throughout the week.

Justin Herbert, QB LAC

Injury: Right Index Finger

Return to Play: Season-Ending

Fantasy Impact: Herbert will be undergoing surgery to repair a fracture right index finger, which will end his season. It would be quite the quick turnaround for him to play within the next four weeks, especially considering this is on his throwing hand. Consider his 2024 season over and seek other options for your fantasy playoffs.

Jake Browning, QB CIN

Injury: Right Thumb Cramping

Return to Play: Week 15

Fantasy Impact: After the game, Browning told reporters that his thumb started cramping and that he will be fine for next week. Unless there was a contusion on his throwing hand, I am not concerned about his availability for next week.

CJ Stroud, QB HOU

Injury: Concussion

Return to Play: Week 15-16

Fantasy Impact: While the majority of players have missed at least one game after entering concussion protocol, there have been a few players who have passed in time to play the following game. Monitor his status throughout the week but prepare to be without him.

Josh Jacobs, RB LV

Injury: Quad/Knee

Return to Play: Week 16-17

Fantasy Impact: Unfortunately, he suffered a knee injury that will likely put his status for Thursday night in jeopardy. It has officially been listed as a quadriceps injury, and he started the short week with a DNP. If active, consider starting him despite the reinjury risk given the matchup versus the Chargers, but it will be risky.

Alexander Mattison, RB MIN

Injury: Right High Ankle Sprain

Return to Play: Week 15-17

Fantasy Impact: By video, his ankle sprain appeared to be on the mild side but he was unable to return to the field. There is a chance that this winds up being a high ankle injury and cost him several weeks, in which case Ty Chandler would be the lead back. Monitor the injury report this week.

Jerome Ford, RB CLE

Injury: Hand/Wrist

Return to Play: Week 15

Fantasy Impact: Reports surfaced that the X-rays were negative on his hand, so this is likely just a mild sprain. I do not expect this to limit his ability to play in week 15 or his receiving effectiveness.

Justin Jefferson, WR MIN

Injury: Chest

Return to Play: Week 15-16

Fantasy Impact: He has officially been labeled as Day-to-Day after taking a hard shot to his ribs on a literal hospital ball (yes, Josh Dobbs got Justin Jefferson sent to the hospital with a terrible throw). As of right now, I do think there is a chance he is able to suit up for week 15. Monitor his practice status.

Tyreek Hill, WR MIA

Injury: Left High Ankle Sprain

Return to Play: Week 15-17

Fantasy Impact: This one will be tough to predict, because while he was in a ton of pain after the injury occurred, he was able to return for some snaps per drive and make several catches. He was limited throughout the rest of the game so the ankle was clearly bothering him, but who knows how the ankle will feel after the game and into the week. Most high ankle sprains limit players for at least two games, but do not panic yet.

Nico Collins, WR HOU

Injury: Calf Strain

Return to Play: Week 16-17

Fantasy Impact: Collins suffered a calf strain that prevented him from returning to the game and will likely prevent him from suiting up. The concern here is if this is a reinjury to his prior calf strain that he suffered in early November. For now, operate under the assumption that he will be out this week.

Dalton Kincaid, TE BUF

Injury: Shoulder/AC Sprain

Return to Play: Week 15-16

Fantasy Impact: Reportedly, this injury is mild for Kincaid and should not limit his ability to play. However, his production upside was significantly limited with Dawson Knox’s return. He unfortunately may not be a locked-in TE1 for the start of fantasy playoffs.
