Anthony Richardson impressed at Florida's pro day.
Richardson was impressive again though only participated in passing drills. He has little to prove in the athletic department though he did complete his workout with a perfect backflip. While we've seen mock drafts from some NFL pundits with Richardson falling out o the top ten selections, there's just too much need at the position and it will be a surprise if the freak athlete remains on the board after pick seven. Richardson continues to rise on fantasy boards but has little room for further ascent given his QB3 and R4 (overall) on DLF's superflex rookie rankings

In Bucky Brooks' most recent mock draft, Anthony Richardson was selected 20th-overall by the Seahawks
The selection is noteworthy due to the fact that nearly every NFL pundit mock draft now has Richardson falling to no later than 7th-overall (Raiders), while most now have him selected in the top four. A combination of intriguing athletic talent and leaguewide need make a selection outside the top seven picks unlikely, though any selecting team is taking a leap of faith the dynamic player can make major strides as a passer to go with his otherworldly mobility and speed. Richardson has risen to DLF's QB3 and the R4 (overall) on our superflex rankings.

Todd McShay reports he's "heard a little buzz" about Carolina being interested in Anthony Richardson with the first-overall selection of the 2023 NFL Draft
Unless you've been under a rock for the past week, Anthony Richardson's picture is now under the definition of "buzz" in the fantasy football almanac, so it stands to reason he may be in play for the 1.01. That said, With Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud much more pro-ready prospects, it's hard to imagine the Panthers, after years of unsuccessfully trying to find their new long-term answer at quarterback, would hazard a selection on a rookie who some believe is a year or two away from being ready to start in the NFL. That's not to say, due to athletic ability, that the athletic prospect won't be under-center come week one for whichever team selects him. It's looking more likely that four quarterbacks will be off the board within the first seven selections during the NFL Draft. Richardson is found as DLF's QB4.

In Todd McShay's first mock draft following the NFL Combine, Anthony Richardson is selected fourth overall by the Raiders.
After blowing up the NFL Combine, the intrigue of Richardson will be too much for at least one NFL team and McShay's bet is on the Raiders, who he projects to trade up for the rights to Richardson. History paints a dubious picture of past athletic combine blowouts at the position, with none of the top five quarterbacks going on to see fantasy prominence, but Richardson is built differently, though remains extremely raw as a passer. Dynasty coaches are left to wrestle with the intrigue of what could be. A selection by the Raiders also calls into question what the team would do with the athletic quarterback in his rookie years, as the team has no other viable starters on the roster. It's an intriguing landing spot for Richardson, DLF's rookie QB3.

Anthony Richardson blew up the NFL Combine athletically, but historical athletic comparisons aren't favorable for NFL success
Richardson will be all the talk of the Combine after he produced new records in the broad jump (10'9") and the vertical jump (40.5") and notched a 4.44 40-yard dash, second all-time. There's no question he put on a dazzling display athletically, but it didn't stop there. He also showcased his elite arm strength in passing drills. That all said, while athletically there's no question he is an elite athlete, none of the top-five athletic scores at the position have gone on to NFL stardom. Ranked in order of athleticism scores: 1) Richardson 2) Robert Griffin 3) Tyree Jackson 4) Trevor Knight and 5) Tyrod Taylor. Richardson is built differently but it's clear NFL coaches will have a lot of work to do if they expect to transfer his athleticism into a successful starting quarterback. Found as DLF's QB3, there's no more intriguing player in 2023 rookie drafts but fantasy coaches will need to weigh the risk-reward elements carefully based on need and draft position.

Anthony Richardson ran a 4.44 40-yard dash.
Ridiculous and, unsurprisingly, he called it quits following the single run. Richardson is living up to all billing and has basically set new records in most every drill. There's little way Richardson isn't moving up draft boards based on his otherworldly performance though so many questions remain about his ability to develop. He remains as DLF's rookie QB3.

Richardson has only recently moved up to QB3 on DLF's rookie quarterback rankings, pushing Will Levis down to QB4. The upside and ceiling potential of Richardson is just too much for dynasty coaches, and likely many NFL coaches as well, to pass on with this year's strongest arm and elite mobility. With a good showing during the Combine, Richardson could climb rookie draft boards.

There may be no more polarizing player in the 2023 NFL Draft than quarterback Anthony Richardson
Richardson has the best arm in this year's class while also possessing off-the-chart mobility, all wrapped up in a 6'4" 230-pound frame. On the downside, he's extremely raw as a passer and his 54.7% completion percentage is a problem. But, NFL teams enter this year's draft with arguably the greatest leaguewide need at quarterback in decades and Richardson's upside will be difficult to ignore, almost ensuring that he'll be a top-15 selection. The rookie doesn't have the tangibles to rise above Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud in the NFL Draft or dynasty drafts but will be an intriguing second-round selection in 1QB formats and a risk-on addition in the back half of the first round in superflex. He's found as the rookie QB4 in both formats, but the R9 (overall) in DLF's superflex rankings.

There's little question Richardson is a physical freak with size and mobility to keep him in the mix for a top-ten selection. On the downside, he's extremely raw under center and would be best served watching from the sidelines for the majority of his rookie season. The need at quarterback has never been greater in the NFL and a selection of Richardson is a "swing for the fence" pick. He's found as DLF's QB4 and the R10 overall in superflex formats.

Rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson is selected ninth-overall by the Panthers in Mel Kiper's most recent mock draft
Richardson is a swing-for-the-fences selection due to his intriguing blend of arm strength and mobility but it comes with huge question marks about just how raw he is as a quarterback. The 6'4/232 lbs. quarterback has the mobility and speed to change the game but with only a single year as a starter in his time at Florida, a poor 53.8% completion percentage, and extremely pedestrian 17:9 touchdown to interception ratio, it's difficult to say how this will play out over the long term. It would be a shock to see Richardson under center early in 2023 and a selection by the Panthers likely means that Sam Darnold could return for one more year while the rookie is groomed. Richardson is found as DLF's QB3 and the R25 overall.
