Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks had just one carry before suffering a non-contact knee injury in the Panthers loss to the Eagles.
Oh boy. Brooks was carted to the locker room after going down and this has the looks of another potentially serious knee injury for the former Texas Longhorn who was just coming back from last year's torn ACL. We'll see what the next few days brings us in terms of updates, but this would be catastrophic for his dynasty value as the Panthers have already committed a lot of money to Chuba Hubbard and may not be willing to ever turn the reigns over fully to Brooks, regardless of his health.

Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks had 18 rushing yards in a loss to Tampa Bay.
Brooks had six carries on the day and Chuba Hubbard had 12. Neither running back was very impressive, but at least Brooks had a few more touches this week. He looks like a player we're going to have to simply wait until next season to get a really good look at. At this point, his dynasty value is starting to slip a bit.

Panthers rookie running back Jonathon Brooks had two carries for seven yards in his NFL debut.
#buzzkill. We figured Brooks was going to be brought along slowly, but this was unforeseen. With Chuba Hubbard taking 16 of the 18 running back carries today, it's clear he's not being replaced any time soon, especially after Hubbard signed a contract extension. At some point, this is likely going to be a much more balanced backfield, but today's performance will keep Brooks on dynasty benches until further notice and could keep his value sinking.

The Panthers have signed running back Chuba Hubbard to a four-year contract extension.
This is sneaky big news in dynasty leagues as most expected Hubbard to move on in free agency, leaving the backfield duties to Brooks. Instead, it seems the Panthers are more than happy having two capable running backs to split carries instead of having a true bell cow. Brooks' dynasty value is going to take a hit now as it seems he's not going to have the workload many of us expected. Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks could make his NFL debut this week.
Brooks is coming back from a torn ACL suffered while he was at Texas and the Panthers have been taking it slowly with him. However, it seems they'll finally have what they hope is their future workhorse at running back in the fold as early as this week. Chuba Hubbard has been stellar this season, so don't expect Brooks to come in and suddenly make him irrelevant. Still, this is exciting as dynasty managers who drafted Brooks have been waiting patiently.
