The Dynasty Aftermath: The Dwyane Wade Statue
Welcome to DLF’s Dynasty Aftermath. This staple article is our longest running signature piece as we have a little fun after a tough week at the Dynasty League Football office. You’ll find this article will review the week’s happenings in a variety of ways and help set you up for the coming weeks as we spin around the league in the way we know best. Expect it each and every week. I’ve written this column for the past eighteen years (I cannot believe I just typed that) and I love it . I enjoy combing through the stats of the week on Monday night, putting together ridiculous lineups, picking MVPs/LVPs and discussing things to worry about.
That’s not all. I also really love sharing observations, little bits of entertainment or some stories with the community of DLF and picking a theme for this column each week. You really never know what you’re going to get.
This week’s theme revolves around a statue that was unveiled in Miami this weekend of Heat legend Dwyane Wade. Let’s just say the reception of this statue hasn’t been great. In short, it doesn’t look much like Wade, who himself even looked shocked when it was unveiled.
Dwyane Wade’s Heat career
-15 seasons
-3 championships
-All-time leader in points, games, assists, and steals
-1 completely unrecognizable statue— Barstool Sports (@barstoolsports) October 27, 2024
Umm, yeah. Some of the memes have been pretty priceless.
So, it’s safe to say the statue isn’t perfect. However, it got me thinking about dynasty leagues, as most things do. I started thinking about the players who simply don’t look like themselves this year.
Players who look a whole lot better than I thought they would this season…
Rashid Shaheed (too bad he got hurt)
Baker Mayfield
Jayden Daniels
Kyler Murray
Derrick Henry
Jared Goff
Alvin Kamara
Kyle Pitts
Saquon Barkley
Sam Darnold
Chuba Hubbard
Chris Godwin (too bad he got hurt, too)
Terry McLaurin
JK Dobbins
Nico Collins
Brock Bowers
George Kittle
Players who look a whole lot worse than I thought they would this season…
Patrick Mahomes (at least statistically)
Travis Kelce
Anthony Richardson (I’ve never been a huge fan, but this is bad)
Deshaun Watson (I just think it’s over)
Jordan Love
Zack Moss
Javonte Williams
Davante Adams
DeAndre Hopkins
Rome Odunze
Dalton Schultz
Michael Pittman
Calvin Ridley
Courtland Sutton
Tank Dell
Keenan Allen
Brandon Aiyuk
Jerry Jeudy
Sam LaPorta
Juwan Johnson
It’s certainly a year of surprises. Let’s get to it!
Fantasy MVP of the Week
Last year, CeeDee Lamb put up an insane 135 catches for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. However, this year has been a different story as Dallas has simply failed to recapture the offensive magic they enjoyed last season and Lamb, while good most weeks this season, has been a bit of a disappointment (at least to the lofty standards we have for him generated from last year’s dominance). However, he was finally back to form this week as he recorded a whopping 13 catches on 17 targets for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Over the first five weeks of the season, he had a total of 41 targets. Over the past two weeks, he has 31. If Dallas is going to go down this year, it’s clear they’re going to do it with their best player touching the football. It also looks like Lamb is in position for a massive second half. If anything, he was certainly fantasy football’s greatest weapon this week.
Fantasy LVP of the Week
I’ve said it 1,000,000 times. It doesn’t matter which team Amari Cooper is on. He’s the streakiest player I’ve covered in my nearly 20 years at DLF. Whether it’s the Raiders, Cowboys, Browns, or Bills (apparently), it looks like this is going to continue. This week, Cooper posted a dud with just one catch and three yards after a 4/66/1 debut with Buffalo. Next week, Cooper could catch 20 passes for 300 yards with three scores or catch one pass for two yards. You just never know and this week was a killer for anyone who bought in to him changing on his new team.
The Unbeatable Lineup of the Week
QB Jalen Hurts PHI = 236 passing yards, 37 rushing yards, four total touchdowns
RB James Cook BUF = 111 rushing yards, three catches, 22 receiving yards, two touchdowns
RB De’Von Achane MIA = 97 rushing yards, six catches, 50 receiving yards, one touchdown
RB Josh Jacobs GB = 127 rushing yards, one catch, -2 receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR CeeDee Lamb DAL = 13 catches, 146 receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR Ladd McConkey LAC = Six catches, 111 receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR Marvin Harrison Jr ARIÂ = Five catches, 89 receiving yards, one touchdown
TE Cade Otton TB = Nine catches, 81 receiving yards, two touchdowns
The Underdog Lineup of the Week
QB Bo Nix DEN = 284 passing yards, four total touchdowns
RB Isaac Guerendo SF = 85 rushing yards, three catches, 17 receiving yards, one touchdown
RB Raheem Mostert MIA = 19 rushing yards, one catch, 11 receiving yards, two touchdowns
RB Jaleel McLaughlin DEN = 47 rushing yards, one catch, nine receiving yards, one touchdown
WR Cedric Tillman CLE = Seven catches, 99 receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR Kalif Raymond DET = Two catches, 14 receiving yards, two total touchdowns
WR Jalen Coker CAR = Four catches, 78 receiving yards, one touchdown
TE Adam Trautman DEN = Four catches, 85 receiving yards, one touchdown
The Disappointing Lineup of the Week
QB Geno Smith SEA = 212 passing yards, one interception
RB Jordan Mason SF = 18 rushing yards
RB Nick Chubb CLE = 52 rushing yards, no catches
RB Brian Robinson WAS = 65 rushing yards, one catch, 11 receiving yards
WR Amari Cooper BUF = One catch, three receiving yards
WR Tyler Lockett SEA = One catch, nine receiving yards
WR Michael Pittman IND = One catch, 16 receiving yards
TE Cole Kmet CHI = One catch, 14 receiving yards
Gut Checks
I’d be worried if I had given up hope on Jalen Hurts.
I’d be worried if I was relying on Stefon Diggs this season.
I’d be worried if I needed WR1 numbers from Davante Adams.
I’d be worried if I had Dak Prescott as my QB1.
I’d be worried if I was ignoring a solid year from Joe Mixon.
I’d be worried if I needed Christian Kirk any time soon.
I’d be worried if I was ignoring a consistently solid year from Terry McLaurin.
I’d be worried if I still needed production from Jordan Mason. That time is coming to an end.
I’d be worried if I needed consistency from Javonte Williams.
I’d be worried if I didn’t think George Pickens was poised for a solid second half.
I’d be worried if I was having my statue unveiled in Miami.
I’d be worried if I had given up hope on Kyle Pitts.
I’d be worried if I didn’t have some faith in David Njoku.
I’d be worried if I was ignoring a regression from Jordan Love.
I’d be worried if I didn’t notice the difference in Miami’s offense with Tua back.
I’d be worried if I didn’t want to cash out on Calvin Ridley.
I’d be worried if I didn’t feel comfortable with Brock Purdy as my QB1.
I’d be worried if I hadn’t noticed some really good weeks from Najee Harris of late.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t impressed with what Tony Pollard has done this year on a bad team.
I’d be worried if I needed Amari Cooper on a weekly basis.
I’d be worried if I was still holding out hope for Jahan Dotson.
I’d be worried if I didn’t think Raheem Mostert was going to have a say in some fantasy results this year.
I’d be worried if I thought Geno Smith was going to be the future in Seattle.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t looking to trade for Kenneth Walker after one bad week.
I’d be worried if I was ignoring a monster season from George Kittle.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t really impressed with Baker Mayfield. He’d look good with the Browns. Ouch.
I’d be worried if I thought Jameis Winston wasn’t able to do that again. Or do the complete opposite.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t disappointed in Marvin Mims.
I’d be worried if I didn’t view James Cook as a player to build around.
I’d be worried if I needed Tyler Lockett.
I’d be worried if I was too reliant on Chuba Hubbard with Jonathon Brooks on the way.
I’d be worried if I needed old school numbers from DeAndre Hopkins.
I’d be worried if I was hesitant on putting Bucky Irving in my lineup.
I’d be worried if I didn’t think David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs could both be really good each week.

Always check our latest rankings to see the updates throughout the week. These rankings are simply my own.

Another solid game this week keeps him at 1.01.
2.) Malik Nabers, WR NYG
Again, I wonder how good would he be with a legitimate quarterback?
3.) Brock Bowers, TE LV
Stud.
4.) Brian Thomas, WR JAX
He just continues to have one of the highest floors in regards to rookies in recent memory.
