The Dynasty Aftermath: New Year’s Dynasty Resolutions

Welcome to DLF’s Dynasty Aftermath. This staple article is our longest running signature piece as we have a little fun after a tough week at the Dynasty League Football office. You’ll find this article will review the week’s happenings in a variety of ways and help set you up for the coming weeks as we spin around the league in the way we know best. Expect it each and every week. I’ve written this column for the past eighteen years (I cannot believe I just typed that) and I love it . I enjoy combing through the stats of the week on Monday night, putting together ridiculous lineups, picking MVPs/LVPs and discussing things to worry about.
That’s not all. I also really love sharing observations, little bits of entertainment or some stories with the community of DLF and picking a theme for this column each week. You really never know what you’re going to get.
Last week, I listed the things I’d like to see under my tree for the teams I have left. Let’s see how that worked.
1.) Jalen Hurts to somehow get healthy enough to play this week. NOPE
2.) Michael Penix to show he can be the quarterback Atlanta really needs KIND OF
3.) Jonathan Taylor doing this one more time. YEP
4.) Jaylen Waddle to play this week. NOPE
5.) Kyle Pitts to catch a pass YEP
6.) Tyreek Hill to come back to form KIND OF
7.) Russell Wilson to put up one last vintage performance NOPE
8.) James Conner to somehow play KIND OF
9.) Cooper Kupp to be Cooper Kupp NOPE
10.) Breece Hall to look like the player we thought we had NOPE
So, needless to say, I got coal in my stocking. This week, I’m going to share three of my Dynasty New Year’s Resolutions.
1.) I will sell my rookie picks for guaranteed value this off-season. I just don’t see a lot of really guaranteed value this season after the top few picks. This seems like a year to cash out your later first rounders.
2.) I will look to acquire some “buy low” players who underperformed this season like Rome Odunze, Keon Coleman, Xavier Legette and Malik Washington.
3.) I will look to sell some veteran players I believe have overperformed this year and may be on the cusp of a value drop. This list will include the likes of Derrick Henry, Alvin Kamara, James Conner, Davante Adams, and George Kittle.
Those are just some general thoughts I have after a knee-jerk reaction to the season. Happy New Year, everyone. Let’s get to it…
Fantasy MVP of the Week
I’m going to go with someone we really haven’t talked enough about – Trey McBride. This week was excellent for him as he led all tight ends with a 12/123/1 line. What’s noteworthy is really his season, however. McBride has 104 catches for 1,081 yards and that single touchdown. Add a few more scores (which seem inevitable next season) and you have a bona fide top five tight end. He’s been a total stud.
Fantasy LVP of the Week
Well, Rhamondre Stevenson (one yard), Isiah Pacheco (18 yards), and Jerome Ford (22 yards) could all be candidates at running back. However, I have to go with Terry McLaurin, who has been great all season but had just one catch for five yards in the final. That was just a killer.
The Unbeatable Lineup of the Week
QB Baker Mayfield TB = 359 passing yards, five touchdowns
RB Jonathan Taylor IND = 125 rushing yards, two catches, 11 receiving yards, two touchdowns
RB Jahmyr Gibbs DET = 117 rushing yards, four catches, 46 receiving yards, one touchdown
RB Bijan Robinson ATL = 90 rushing yards, three catches, eight receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR Tee Higgins CIN = Eleven catches, 131 receiving yards, three touchdowns
WR Malik Nabers NYG = Seven catches, 171 receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR DeVonta Smith PHI = Six catches, 120 receiving yards, two touchdowns
TE Trey McBride ARI = 12 catches, 123 receiving yards, one touchdown
The Underdog Lineup of the Week
QB Drew Lock NYG = 309 passing yards, four touchdowns
RB Ameer Abdullah LV = 115 rushing yards, three catches, 32 receiving yards
RB Â Jaylen Warren PIT = 71 rushing yards, five catches, 41 receiving yards
RB JK Dobbins LAC = 76 rushing yards, one catch, seven receiving yards, one touchdown
WR Marvin Mims DEN = Eight catches, 103 receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR Ricky Pearsall SF = Eight catches, 141 receiving yards, one touchdown
WR Adam Thielen CAR = Five catches, 110 receiving yards, two touchdowns
TE Tyler Conklin NYJ = Eight catches, 57 receiving yards, one touchdown
The Disappointing Lineup of the Week
QB Aaron Rodgers NYJ = 112 passing yards, two interceptions
RB Rhamondre Stevenson NE = One rushing yard
RB Isiah Pacheco KC = 18 rushing yards
RB Jerome Ford CLE = 22 rushing yards
WR Terry McLaurin WAS = One catch, five receiving yards
WR Jayden Reed GB = One catch, six receiving yards
WR Rome Odunze CHI = One catch, 15 receiving yards
TE Brenton Strange JAX = No catches
Gut Checks
I’d be worried if I didn’t value Jared Goff as a QB1 this off-season.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t really concerned about Cooper Kupp.
I’d be worried if I thought Trey Benson was a real threat to James Conner next season.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t concerned about the lack of production from Matthew Stafford.
I’d be worried if I was ignoring another decent year from Jaylen Warren.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t really curious to see what happens with Rico Dowdle.
I’d be worried if I had to play against Baker Mayfield. Sorry, Cleveland.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t looking to buy low on Garrett Wilson.
I’d be worried if I missed out on Brock Bowers or Trey McBride.
I’d be worried if I was ignoring a good year from Courtland Sutton.
I’d be worried if I was ignoring some solid late year work from Marvin Mims Jr.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t pretty impressed with Xavier Worthy of late.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t tracking Parker Washington.
I’d be worried if I was still doubting Ladd McConkey.
I’d be worried if I gave up too soon on Mark Andrews.
I’d be worried if I didn’t think Bucky Irving was a must-start.
I’d be worried if I was playing against Joe Burrow.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t very curious as to what happens with Tee Higgins.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t looking to buy on De’Von Achane.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t a little concerned about Caleb Williams.
I’d be worried if I thought Keenan Allen was still Keenan Allen.
I’d be worried if I was somehow down on Sam LaPorta.
I’d be worried if I was sold on George Pickens.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t really impressed with Jayden Daniels.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t breathing a little easier if I had Jonathan Taylor.
I’d be worried if I needed consistency from Jameson Williams.
I’d be worried if I was sold on Anthony Richardson.
I’d be worried if I was still feeling great about Rome Odunze.
I’d be worried if I wasn’t already scouting the premier players coming out in April.
