Four Wide Receivers to Buy, Sell, or Hold in Dynasty Leagues

Wyatt Bertolone

Welcome to the Positional Buy Sell Hold series where each week I’ll be focusing on one position to analyze four players and what we should be doing with them in dynasty. Wide Receivers on the docket for this week. Let’s dive in.

Ja’Marr Chase, WR CIN – Hold

We always knew Chase had the ability to have a season like he did in 2024 and it was great to see it happen. Chase joined rare company with his triple crown season and led all wide receivers in PPR points per game with 23.7. This off-season Chase is looking for a new contract but there’s no doubt he’ll be staying with the Bengals. Chase and Joe Burrow have one of the best connections in the entire NFL and they want to keep it that way. So how do you approach Chase coming off the season he had?

The Move – As with all of the elite of the elite assets in dynasty, Chase is a hold. After the season Chase had he’s going to be nearly untouchable if trying to acquire him and I wouldn’t be surprised if your league mate just straight up tells you he’s not available. I’m also not willing to sell Chase unless I’m getting one of Justin Jefferson, Malik Nabers, Puka Nacua, CeeDee Lamb, or Amon-Ra St. Brown with another asset added on which people aren’t lining up to do. Enjoy that you have Chase if you do and if you don’t you’re going to have to wait a while longer

Tyreek Hill, WR MIA – Sell

It was a frustrating season for Hill in 2024. Hill was coming off two consecutive seasons of at least 170 targets, 119 receptions, and 1,700 receiving yards for the Dolphins and failed to come anywhere close to doing it again. He finished with his lowest receptions per game and receiving yards per game since he was a rookie. This was possibly due to new offensive schematics but it could also be the beginning of Hill’s descent. He is now about to turn 31 years old and at the end of the season talked about possibly wanting to go to a different team. Can we trust Hill moving forward?

The Move – All good things come to an end and I’m afraid we saw the beginning of Tyreek Hill’s time as a top fantasy asset in 2024. This is how declines normally happen for players; it’s not just a small decline over time. What actually happens most of the time is that a player is in their prime until they show signs they’re not and next thing you know the bottom can fall out. I’m not saying Hill will be worthless in 2025 but I wouldn’t count on much more than a low-end WR2. I’m trying to trade Hill for players like Terry McLaurin, Jayden Reed, or Josh Downs plus something on top.

Stefon Diggs, WR HOU – Buy

In his age-31 season, with a new team in the Texans, Diggs started off 2024 fairly well considering the doom and gloom surrounding him with how his 2023 season ended. Diggs averaged 15.2 PPR PPG serving as the Texans primary slot receiver before unfortunately tearing his ACL and ending his season. Diggs is now a free agent and will turn 32 during the season while returning from serious injury and we need to question what he has left in the tank. Will he be able to provide any fantasy value in 2025?

The Move – This is pretty simple. I have very little faith Stefon Diggs can provide anything close to what he has in the past but he has become extremely cheap to acquire. According to the Dynasty League Football Trade Analyzer Diggs, is only worth about an early third-round rookie pick. That price is cheap enough to make the bet that Diggs can return WR3 production in 2025 which isn’t even that much to ask for but enough to be worth the price. If I’m in multiple leagues I don’t want to buy Diggs in all of them but I’m checking in on him for any competing teams I have where I’d like to buy some cheap depth.

Rashod Bateman, WR BAL – Buy

Finally healthy, Bateman was able to have a good season for the Ravens. Bateman set new career highs across the board and averaged 10.9 PPR PPG as the Ravens’ WR2 in the offense. Bateman excelled working down the field and creating big plays. But, with so many other weapons around him Bateman managed to earn just 72 targets on the season. This made him very touchdown-reliant and quite boom or bust throughout the year. Should we want Bateman on our dynasty teams?

The Move – This is similar to Stefon Diggs as Rashod Bateman is valued closely to him and we’re looking for the same level of production out of them. The difference is Bateman is much younger and not coming off an injury so he’s an even more attractive option to buy. Additionally, we could see Bateman’s opportunity grow moving forward. We know Zay Flowers is the Ravens’ top target earner but with Mark Andrews getting older and rumors he could be off the team sooner than later Bateman could earn more targets.

It’s never a bad time for a good dynasty trade. Good luck finding yours.
