Injury: Right Thumb Dislocation
Return to Play: Week 8-12
Fantasy Impact: Fields suffered a right thumb dislocation and attempted to play through it, but had trouble gripping the ball. Thankfully, no fracture occurred, but there was likely ligament damage from the dislocation. Return to play will be dependent on pain levels and functional return, including his ability to grip the ball and control where the ball goes upon passing. This could be a few week ordeal, or it could wind up being a four to six week ordeal, all varied by how much trauma there is and how quickly his ability to grip returns. Worst case scenario, if it doesn’t heal how they want and need it to, he could wind up requiring surgery to repair, though this has not been brought up as an option yet. The hope is that it does not progress that way.
