Welcome to DLF’s Dynasty Aftermath. This staple article is our longest running signature piece as we have a little fun after a tough week at the Dynasty League Football office. You’ll find this article will review the week’s happenings in a variety of ways and help set you up for the coming weeks as we spin around the league in the way we know best. Expect it each and every week.

I’ve written this column for the past sixteen years and I love it. I enjoy combing through the stats of the week on Monday night, putting together ridiculous lineups, picking MVPs/LVPs and discussing things to worry about.

That’s not all. I also really love sharing observations, little bits of entertainment or some stories with the community of DLF and picking a theme for this column each week. You really never know what you’re going to get.

When Christian McCaffrey was traded last week, we knew it would have some far-reaching ramifications and thought things were looking up for CMC. After just two weeks on the roster, Kyle Shanahan is clearly finding every way possible to utilize his skill-set and McCaffrey became the first player since LaDanian Tomlinson to throw, catch, and run for a touchdown in the same game this week. The trade has likely pushed McCaffrey back into the first round of dynasty start-up drafts as he looks rejuvenated and nearly unstoppable again, health permitting. Many could call McCaffrey a swiss-army knife, but I actually think he’s better – he’s the new Fpoon of the NFL, like GoGurt, but here to stay!

The trade also seemingly unlocked the potential of another player, so let’s get to it!

Fantasy MVP of the Week

Those of us who have been playing in dynasty leagues for a while certainly remember the dominant force D’Onta Foreman was when he played at the University of Texas. In 2016, Foreman burst on to the scene with 2,028 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns for the Longhorns, averaging a ridiculous 6.3 yards per carry in the process. That season also saw him rush for at least 124 yards in every game, highlighted by two different 250-yard performances and even a 341-yard gem against Texas Tech. His lack of receiving ability pushed him down in the 2017 NFL Draft, but he was taken by the Texans in the third round, with hopes he could eventually become their starter. Unfortunately, Foreman tore his Achilles early in his rookie season and couldn’t recover. The Texans eventually waived him, citing his poor work habits and even claiming he was habitually late for team meetings. Over the next few years, Foreman bounced around the league, with stops in Tennessee (twice), Atlanta, and Indianapolis. We saw some serious glimpses of that talent last year when he took over for Derrick Henry and rushed for 100 yards in three of his last six games, but this year has been even better. With Christian McCaffrey now on the 49ers, Foreman has stepped in to the spotlight and this week produced 118 rushing yards and three touchdowns, securing a likely win for anyone who needed him this week. With two straight 118-yard performances, Foreman is officially a story in fantasy leagues. Just like the guy from the Continental Breakfast, we know he’s always been here.

Fantasy LVP of the Week

Davante Adams and the Raiders hit rock bottom this week as they were shut out by the Saints. In that game, Adams had just one catch for three yards and one carry for -1 yard. This was an absolute soul crusher for any dynasty manager needing WR1-like points from Adams this week. While this is likely just a blip on the radar, the Raiders have simply not been good this season and things finally caught up to one of their best players. There’s no need to panic here with Adams, but this was a dreadful day for that entire offense.

I’d be worried if I thought Jalen Hurts was going away.
