James Robinson News

  • James Robinson scores again · Sep 26, 2022

James Robinson had 100 yards rushing, three catches, 16 yards receiving and scored a touchdown in Jacksonville's surprise road win against the Chargers.

Robinson now has posted 230 rushing yards on 51 carries (4.5 yards per carry) and scored in each of Jacksonville's first three games by posting four total touchdowns. Questions about his ability to recover from his achilles tear have been answered and while Travis Etienne continues to get chances, it's Robinson who has proven to be the "1A," at least early in the season. He looks like a screaming buy at his current ranking of RB33.

  • James Robinson scores twice · Sep 12, 2022

Jaguars running back James Robinson scored twice in the team's loss to the Commanders in week one.

Robinson scored once as a runner and once as a receiver in his first action since tearing his Achilles late in 2021, removing any question as to whether the team would reduce his workload early in the season. He still only saw 12 total touches on the day and produced 66 yards on the ground but he clearly worked as the early-down back while sophomore Travis Etienne functioned primarily as a receiver. It seems we have another frustrating RBBC to manage and touch share will likely remain inconsistent going forward. As DLF's RB41, Robinson's week one workload is a positive sign about his ability to produce in similar fashion going forward. The Jaguars host the Colts in week two.

  • James Robinson carries risk · Sep 10, 2022

The Athletic's Inside Injury report listed James Robinson with a 34% "Injury Risk" and a below average "Health Performance Factor."

Now roughly nine months removed from his torn Achilles, Robinson seems poised to see touches in week one but, according to The Athletic's report, the author states "I’m not confident he will ever be the same player he was before the injury." Robinson is attempting to follow-on to Rams' running back Cam Akers who showed a miraculous recovery from his own torn Achilles, though given Akers' poor week one performance, it calls into question the state of Akers health. A back with power as his primary trait, the belief is that Robinson will get stronger as the year progresses but shouldn't be in lineups until he proves he can be consistently productive. Found as DLF's RB42, James Robinson has done well to be ready for the start of the season, though expectations should remain low in the near term.

  • James Robinson will play · Sep 5, 2022

James Robinson is set to play in Jacksonville's season opener.

No real surprise here as Robinson has been ahead of schedule from last year's achilles tear all along. The challenge with him is clearly the existence of Travis Etienne healthy and on the roster this season. The backfield usage for these two will be a significant story in dynasty leagues this year as the Jaguars divvy up carries between the two. Robinson could be a solid value at RB42, but there's obvious risk involved here.

  • James Robinson should be ready · Aug 18, 2022

Jaguars running back James Robinson is on track to be ready for the season opener.

This has been trending to happen for the better part of the Summer, but Doug Pederson is now on record saying that's the expectation. It's a quick recovery from a torn achilles last season, but it looks as if Robinson is going to join Cam Akers in the group of quick healers from the ailment. While much of the talk of the Jaguars running back room has been centered around Travis Etienne, Robinson has been likely undervalued by the dynasty community. At RB41, he's looking like a screaming buy at the moment.

  • James Robinson still progressing · Aug 9, 2022

James Robinson reportedly took first team reps in Jaguars practice on Monday.

Robinson still has a ways to go before being ready for game action, but this is a big step forward after he was only participating in team drills prior to Monday. Travis Etienne's presence is obviously going to eat into Robinson's value, but Robinson and Cam Akers are both proving achilles tears may not be the death knell they used to be. Sitting at RB41, there could be some serious value in Robinson and he looks like a "buy" candidate.

  • James Robinson cleared for camp · Jul 25, 2022

Jaguars running back James Robinson will not begin training camp on the PUP list.

It's huge news for Robinson and his dynasty coaches while those with shares of Travis Etienne will be somewhat disappointed. Robinson is seven months removed from his December Achilles tear and seems to be following in the steps of Rams' back Cam Akers, who also successfully rehabbed-and-returned in the same season from his own Achilles tear in 2021. Expect the team to take it easy on the soon-to-be 24-year-old Robinson to ensure he can be eased into a larger workload but, without setback, it seems Jacksonville will begin the season with a 1-2 punch of Robinson and Etienne. Robinson is found as an intriguing RB43 value, certain to rise as long as he remains off the trainer's table.

  • James Robinson progressing · Jul 13, 2022

Jaguars running back James Robinson continues to progress as he recovers from his Achilles injury suffered last December.

A video posted on Tuesday shows Robinson working out at the team's indoor facility performing half-speed change-of-direction drills. It not known whether the third-year runner will be ready for the start of the season and the team has no desire to rush his recovery given sophomore running back Travis Etienne's clean bill of health following his missed 2021 due to a Lisfranc injury. The team also added fifth-round selection Snoop Conner during the 2022 NFL Draft. All signs point to the potential availability of Robinson for the beginning of the season, thus adding role risk to both backs in 2022 though a start on the PUP list would elevate Etienne for at least the near term. In any event, Robinson, DLF's RB42, is on the road to recovery as he tries to follow in the footsteps for Rams' running back, Cam Akers, who returned quickly following his own Achilles tear in 2021.

  • James Robinson progressing · Jun 19, 2022

Jaguars running back James Robinson says "it feels pretty good to be back and running" the Achilles injury in December which ended his 2021 season.

He went on to say that he's taking it slowly and not rushing himself back. In two seasons since coming from UDFA status in 2020 to lead the Jaguars in rushing by compiling 1,837 yards and 15 touchdowns, the bigger question is how the offense will balance the workload between he and 2021 rookie Travis Etienne, who missed all of 2021 due to a foot injury himself. If healthy, there's little question Robinson would still be considered the early-down workhorse while Etienne, who has been moved all across the formation in OTAs, would seemingly factor as a more versatile third-down weapon. Expect to see plenty of formations with both on the field simultaneously. Turning 24 in August, Robinson has experienced a precipitous fall in dynasty rankings, now appearing as DLF's RB43. Achilles injuries once carried the stigma of potentially being career-threatening, especially in positions requiring speed, burst and agility. But as Rams running back Cam Akers proved in 2021 following his own miraculous recovery, a return to pre-injury form isn't out of the question. Expect Robinson's dynasty value to remain depressed until usage and health can be confirmed in 2022.

  • James Robinson resumes running · Jun 4, 2022

Jaguars running back James Robinson has resumed running

In the Instagram post, Robinson is shown running half-speed. Now over five months out from a ruptured Achilles injury, the early-down back appears to be well on his way to returning prior to kick-off of the 2022 NFL season. Should he be successful, he will join Rams' back Cam Akers as the next high-profile runner to have successfully rehabbed from the serious injury. Still only 23, any return in 2022 will result in a stabilization of Robinson's RB44 status.
