The fantasy football perspective and the reality football perspective are nearly polar opposites after the 2024 season. In reality, the Texans had a really solid year. They matched their 2023 record of 10-7, they won the division for the second year in a row, and they blew out a good Chargers team in the playoffs 32-12. Going into the season, it was difficult to imagine this team doing much better than that. They aren’t a top-two team in this conference, so to finish the season in the Divisional Round is basically the most one could have expected.

On the fantasy side, the first thing you think of with this team is the epic sophomore slump for CJ Stroud. After a stellar rookie season that saw Stroud finish as the QB11, he took a big step back, finishing as the QB18 with 48 fewer total fantasy points despite playing in two more games. He threw for nearly 400 fewer yards, three fewer touchdowns and he ran for three fewer touchdowns. The most concerning number has to be the interceptions - he jumped from five in his rookie season all the way up to 12 last year. After week four, he failed to finish a single week as a top ten fantasy quarterback and he had four games without a passing touchdown. After only throwing an interception in three 2023 games, he threw for at least one in eight last season. Dynasty managers will be desperate for a bounce-back in 2025 to get his value back to where it was after his rookie season.
