  • Cam Akers to practice · Nov 3, 2022

Cam Akers is expected to practice with the Rams

Akers remaining with the Rams was one of many trade deadline surprises and the fact he wasn't moved speaks to the belief that Sean McVay may believe that the relationship can be repaired. To that end, talks between McVay and Akers are said to have gone well and he's back at practice. There's little question Akers remains the most talented back on the roster and the team needs to find a way to get more production from the position. At the same time, there's arguably no greater veil of uncertainty than McVay and his running back usage. Still only 23, Akers' DLF ranking of RB28 leaves plenty of room for interpretation and possible buy-low acquisition for coaches not averse to risk-on propositions. How the rest of the season plays out for Akers is anyone's guess.

  • Cam Akers could return to LA · Nov 2, 2022

Disgruntled Rams running back Cam Akers was not traded and could return to the Rams this season.

The Rams reportedly turned down multiple trade offers and kept Akers through the deadline in hopes they could rectify his situation. Akers famously returned for the Super Bowl last season after tearing his Achilles in the preseason and was slated for a bounce-back season. However, his ineffectiveness led them to bench him in favor of Darrell Henderson. Akers has been deactivated the past two games for "personal reasons" and Los Angeles tried to move him, but were obviously underwhelmed by the offers they received. Something is going to have to give here as Akers reportedly doesn't want to return to the team. At this point, we're in "wait and see" mode with Akers, whose ADP has fallen all the way down to RB28.

  • Cam Akers played final snap · Oct 16, 2022

According to Jay Glazer, Rams Cam Akers has played his final snap for the team

The team is reportedly now trying to trade the 23-year-old runner and with some obvious need around the NFL, and Akers still on his rookie deal, there would seem to be an opportunity for the embattled back to be moved as soon as this next week. It's a boon for Darrell Henderson owners though the mercurial nature of Sean McVay is a still a significant fantasy hurdle. As for Akers, a change in scenery is clearly the best outcome for all involved and we can hope his situation is resolved quickly. Akers is listed as DLF's RB21 which will be on the move once the situation plays out.

  • Cam Akers' future uncertain · Oct 14, 2022

Cam Akers will not play Sunday and his future with the Rams is in doubt.

Akers has been excused from practice again today for "personal reasons" and will not play on Sunday. In addition, Sean McVay has reportedly declined to say whether Akers will be part of the team in the future and noted the Rams are "working through the situation." None of this sounds positive for Akers, who has been largely ineffective this year, his first full season since his achilles tear. With 151 yards and one touchdown on 51 carries and just two catches, it's fair to wonder if Akers is simply unhappy with his role, but that's impossible to say. A trade of Akers could be best for everyone. Currently our RB21, Akers has seen his value continue to sink and will remain a hold for the moment.

  • Cam Akers leads the Rams · Sep 26, 2022

Cam Akers had 61 yards on 12 carries, and scored a touchdown in the Rams win against the Cardinals.

He did not record a catch. On the plus side, Akers had 12 carries in the game while Darrell Henderson had just four. As for the negatives, Akers was largely invisible until the fourth quarter and lost a brutal fumble in the red zone. Still, the Rams are clearly moving back towards leaning on Akers moving forward. While the running volume hasn't been there, he's at least trending in the right direction. Akers remains a hold as our overall RB17.

  • Cam Akers leads the Rams · Sep 19, 2022

Cam Akers led the Rams running back corps with 17 touches in week two.

The good news is Akers out-touched Darrell Henderson 17-12. The bad news is Henderson (47 rushing yards) was more effective than Akers (62 total yards). Still, this was a step in the right direction for Akers, who is quite honestly much more talented than Henderson. After saying all the right things this week, it seems the Rams are likely to give Akers more chances moving forward. While the production wasn't great this week, this could open a solid buy-low window on Akers, currently ranked as our RB18.

  • Cam Akers role unanticipated · Sep 15, 2022

Rams running back Cam Akers said he didn't anticipate having such a limited role in the team's week-one loss to the Bills

A lot of speculation has occurred in fantasy circles about head coach Sean McVay's "urgency" comment but it seems that comment was made during camp and not in week one of the regular season. It stands to reason as Akers' limited snaps suggests Henderson was expected to be the lead back all along. In any event, Akers is taking it all in stride and seems confident and motivated that he'll give McVay what is needed for a bigger role going forward. It's a frustrating situation for fantasy coaches as McVay remains one of the more mercurial coaches in the NFL and his unpredictable usage of running backs makes it difficult to trust any of them on a weekly basis. For now, it appears Darrell Henderson is operating as the RB1 with a plus-matchup at home vs. the Falcons in week two. Until a clear trend is seen, starting any of the Rams' running backs, especially Akers, is a risky proposition. He's found as DLF's RB16 and is sliding.

  • Cam Akers under the microscope · Sep 9, 2022

Sean McVay was quoted as saying he wants to see just an increased level of urgency from Akers.

The full quote was, "There were some instances where there were some positive things and some things that he can do better, but we want to see just an increased level of urgency and accountability snap in and snap out from him.” Those are some candid words from a Head Coach who had Darrell Henderson out-touch Akers 18-3 on Thursday night. This development could be huge in dynasty leagues as it appears Henderson has truly taken Akers' job for the time being. Achilles tears are brutal to come back from, but this is still a surprise after Akers was able to play in the Super Bowl. At this point, owners have to simply hold on to our RB14, but should also look to add Henderson to hedge their bets.

  • Cam Akers rushes three times · Sep 9, 2022

Rams running back Cam Akers rushed three times for zero yards in the team's week one loss to the Bills

Cam Akers owners have been 'McVayed' again! It's a revisit of an already unpopular script with head coach Sean McVay who blamed the poor performance on "offensive rhythm." The fact remains, however, that it was Darrell Henderson who came out with the starters and outtouched Akers, 18-3. Henderson played over Akers before any rhythm could be determined. Both backs were dinged prior to this game so there's the potential that McVay felt more comfortable with Henderson's status but McVay has been frustratingly inconsistent with back usage from his early time with the team and it doesn't bode well that the script remains the same in week one. We've already seen value decline in Cam Akers, now found as DLF's RB14, and while we would caution dynasty owners not to make rash decisions at this early juncture, pivoting to more reliable options would be advised until we see a pattern of production return.

  • Cam Akers 100% · Jun 20, 2022

Rams running back Cam Akers said he is 100%

It appears to be "all systems go" for DLF's RB9. It was 11 months ago when word came out that Akers had torn his Achilles and would be undergoing surgery, a devastating blow for the running back and dynasty coaches relying on him. What followed was many coaches selling out for nearly any compensation in return as most believed it would be a career-threatening injury. Instead, Akers return late in the season and played an important role in the team's Super Bowl run, adding a spark to the run-game. Now months out from his post-season return, Akers said he's "100%" and it appears as though the team will be leaning on him even more, including integrating him more as a receiver. As long as Akers' health holds, he's a strong bet to rise in our dynasty rankings during the 2022 season. He turns 23 on June 22nd.
