The Dynasty Aftermath: Bob Barker Tribute

Welcome to DLF’s Dynasty Aftermath. This staple article is our longest running signature piece as we have a little fun after a tough week at the Dynasty League Football office. You’ll find this article will review the week’s happenings in a variety of ways and help set you up for the coming weeks as we spin around the league in the way we know best. Expect it each and every week. I’ve written this column for the past seventeen years and I love it. I enjoy combing through the stats of the week on Monday night, putting together ridiculous lineups, picking MVPs/LVPs and discussing things to worry about.

That’s not all. I also really love sharing observations, little bits of entertainment or some stories with the community of DLF and picking a theme for this column each week. You really never know what you’re going to get. This year, I’m doing a. “5 in 5” article that could give a sneak preview of the Aftermath theme each week. I did so this week as I paid tribute to the late, great Bob Barker. We lost the former Price is Right host last week and gang, I’m still picking up the pieces.

Let’s run down those Price is Right game storylines I covered last week, update them and get into the fun!

It’s in the Bag?

Is an RB1 season in the bag for a star rookie? What would Bijan Robinson do in week one? Well, it was ironically a bit of a mixed bag. He had a solid debut with 56 rushing yards, six catches, 27 receiving yards, and one touchdown. Unfortunately, Tyler Allgeier had five more carries than Robinson did and got both short goal line carries. Patience will need to be utilized with Robinson, though we can see his talent already.

Danger Price

We talked a lot about players who are in value danger like Travis Kelce, Cooper Kupp, DeAndre Hopkins, Dalvin Cook, Najee Harris, and Derrick Henry . Week one showed us those worries are warranted with many of these players. Kelce and Kupp both missed the game, Hopkins and Henry were fine but Cook and Harris all have some question marks moving forward. Brighter days are ahead but the time to cash out on these players may have passed.

Time is Money

Yikes. We talked about the Jets being all in last week and it may have seemingly blown up in their faces already, With Aaron Rodgers likely dealing with a torn Achilles, the season of the Jets has changed dramatically. Check back later today and we’ll detail the story in full when the news is inevitably confirmed.

Dice Game

We talked last week about Anthony Richardson, being the biggest dice roll of the year and week one looked very, very promising. Few players are as salivating to have as Richardson and we saw some glimpses of that this week.

Barker’s Bargain Bar

We talked about some potential bargains last week and none of them really materialized. The biggest surprises of the week were really Puka Nacua and Rashid Shaheed. Both should obviously be on rosters if they somehow aren’t already.

Fantasy MVP of the Week

There was talk this off-season of Tyreek Hill looking to retire. Well, he seems just fine for the moment as he had 11 catches for 215 yards and two touchdowns on opening day. If Tua Tagovailoa can stay healthy, Hill has a shot at the overall WR1 spot for the season. There are simply few players who have ever played with the talent he possesses.

Fantasy LVP of the Week

Tee Higgins has long been one of the most underrated players in fantasy football. Unfortunately, he had what could be his worst performance of his career with no catches on eight targets Sunday. It was a weird game we likely won’t see again but anyone who had Higgins in their lineup is stunned at the moment.

I’d be worried if I needed Travis Kelce last week.

It seems the demise of Kenneth Walker was greatly exaggerated.

Targets are all over the place for the Chiefs but I was impressed this week.
