While we focus exclusively on dynasty fantasy football here at DLF, redraft fantasy can be a variable to help us build our teams. While dynasty rankings balance winning this season with winning in the future, redraft rankings focus exclusively on winning in 2025. In this article, we’ll try to highlight the players who are going higher and lower in redraft superflex drafts, and how that will help you in your superflex rookie drafts.
A note on process and methodology here, borrowed from Peter Howard, who has written this series in years past. This article will compare the DLF superflex rookie rankings versus the superflex redraft rankings over at Fantasy Pros. In the FP rankings, we’re most interested in finding the rookies who are going to have an impact right away. These drafters are trying to win this season, and don’t care about 2026 and beyond. As dynasty drafters, we can use this to help us highlight players who are better “win now” picks and players who will require more patience. It also helps us to highlight players who should see their dynasty ADP rise over the course of the 2025 season. Picking players whose value grows in year one is a foolproof way to be a successful dynasty manager.
I compared the logarithmic difference between the DLF ranking and the FP ranking, because as the rankings get lower, a slight difference in rankings becomes less and less significant.
With that being said, the higher numbers in the %Dif column are better “win now” picks (highlighted in green) and the lower numbers are picks that will require more patience (highlighted in red). With all that said, let’s dig into the top 48 rookies round-by-round to mimic a four-round, 12-team draft.
Ashton Jeanty is, of course, the top rookie pick in all formats, so there isn’t a difference between his dynasty and redraft rankings. Cam Ward is the first player with a significant difference, moving up to the number two rookie instead of the number four in dynasty drafts. In superflex drafts, typically quarterbacks get pushed up as they’re the most important position on the board. Therefore, it makes sense that a quarterback who is nearly guaranteed to be the week one starter will be very valuable, no matter the format. But, in redraft leagues, it’s even more important to get that quarterback position figured out early. In dynasty, Ward is a win-now pick, but only if your team needs a quarterback for this season. It’s always good to add a quarterback in superflex dynasty, because they’ll always be valuable. But, in a class like this, it’s tough to pass up years of a high-end flex player to take a quarterback if your team doesn’t need it.
