Fantasy Stat Pack: A Look After Six Weeks
If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve probably noticed a series of tweets I share on a weekly basis regarding player and team defensive performances, all from a fantasy lens. I’m going to be sharing some of that same information with you here.
I use this each week as I am making my own lineup and waiver wire decisions and thought you might find this valuable as well.
Note: The scoring system used for this data is always PPR with four points for passing touchdowns.
All year to date fantasy ranks are based on total points.

Watson and Tannehill dueled to overtime, pushing both quarterbacks into the top-five for the week. Rivers and Garoppolo each produced their first QB1 game of the season and Murray kept his streak alive. He’s the only quarterback with six QB1 games this season.

Not only are Murray and Mahomes the top-two scorers on the season, they are each on a historic pace. The two, separated by less than half a fantasy point, rank third and fourth all-time among quarterback fantasy scorers through the first six games of a season.

The Falcons defense has been one to target at all positions for the entire year. Maybe that begins to change with the recent coaching change. Until then, fantasy players should continue to chase those matchups. This week, that means Matthew Stafford should be in your fantasy lineups. The Bills, Eagles and Seahawks have each allowed four QB1 games but that is still not enough to use Daniel Jones or Joe Flacco this week. Seattle faces Murray in what should be a shootout.
On the other hand, the Bears and Steelers have yet to surrender a QB1 game, which is not encouraging for Jared Goff and Ryan Tannehill this week. Typically safe floor options, these two should be benched in Week Seven.

It was a low-scoring week for fantasy backs, outside of the monster performance from Henry, including a 94-yard touchdown and the game-winning score in overtime. Drake got off the schneid with a solid game on Monday Night Football. His late-game long score killed any hope the Cowboys had of stealing that game. A trio of rookies broke through for their first top-ten game of the season, including Swift, Edwards-Helaire and Taylor. It’s especially good news for Swift, who might be taking over the Detroit backfield.

Despite his bye week, Kamara retained the spot as the RB1 for the season and his lead is fairly comfortable. It is still a shock to see undrafted rookie James Robinson in the middle of the RB1 pack. His production has dipped slightly as Jacksonville struggles but his opportunity share in that backfield remains strong.

A whopping six teams have allowed four RB1 games through the first six weeks, which gives us a nice sample size of running backs to target for Week Seven. Among those backs are: Aaron Jones, Alvin Kamara, Todd Gurley, D’Andre Swift, David Johnson and Boston Scott. Scott will be taking the place of an injured Miles Sanders, who misses the juicy matchup against the Giants.
The Bears, Patriots and Saints have yet to give up a top-12 week to a running back, which should make us think twice about Mike Davis, Darrell Henderson and Jerick McKinnon.

The rookie Jefferson went off again with his second top-two performance of the season. Some might point out that much of his production came in garbage time, but after watching the Vikings the first six weeks, I expect that garbage time to continue. Brown continues to establish himself as the top option in the Titans passing game after missing multiple weeks and Fulgham looks like the real deal for the Eagles.

The Seattle defense has been blasted by opposing wideouts and they’ve allowed a league-high eight WR1 games. This week, that is good news for DeAndre Hopkins, who has reminded all dynasty players that he is still one of the best players in the league.  The Vikings are on bye this week, but the Cowboys match up with Terry McLaurin in an excellent spot for the second-year receiver.

When Jonnu Smith went out of the game with an injury, his backup Firkser saw all the action, enough to lead the Titans in receiving and finish as the top-scoring tight end of the week. Burton scored a pair of touchdowns for the Colts as they came back to overtake the Bengals and backups Shaheen and Boyle outproduced their teammates Mike Gesicki and Mark Andrews.

The Falcons, Bills and Saints have each given up five TE1 games through six weeks. That makes TJ Hockenson a must-start this week, but even that excellent matchup may not help frustrating players like Chris Herndon and Ian Thomas.
The Panthers, Lions and Dolphins haven’t allowed a TE1 game yet, though Jared Cook and Hurst will try to end that streak. Miami is on bye this week.
Finally, here is the chart summarizing how teams have fared against each position. I’ve also included the schedule for this week for reference.
