In case you are reading this, there is one bit of information to know before you start reading names. Just like last year’s series, we will be utilizing player rostership percentages, courtesy of real dynasty rosters from 1,700 MFL leagues. While this may not be entirely accurate for every individual league, it is very reflective of how managers view who is worthy or not of a roster spot. Now that that’s covered, let’s dive into the waiver wire after week six!

Players to double-check availability and immediately add:

Brian Hoyer, QB LV

Another week of football means more injuries racking up. Jimmy Garoppolo left early with a back injury and was ruled out almost immediately after being taken to the locker room. Aidan O’Connell was a healthy scratch, so Hoyer took over and actually performed pretty well against the Patriots, completing 60% of his passes for 102 yards, closing out the win for the Raiders.

I am going to assume that Garoppolo is going to miss week seven. Vegas plays Chicago, which is a juicy matchup for a bye-week fill-in who has a ton of NFL experience, is throwing to Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers, and has a really strong run game to support him too. There are worse players to have to throw into your superflex spot in a pinch than Hoyer against the Bears, including the next name on this list.

Tyson Bagent, QB CHI

Sticking with the theme of injured quarterbacks, Justin Fields left the game early with a thumb injury. From fantasy doctors on Twitter, I’ve heard anywhere from 0-5 weeks missed, so in comes undrafted rookie Bagent. I can’t imagine what kind of situation you’re in where Bagent becomes a superflex consideration for you. There are a handful of good quarterbacks on bye this week: Joe Burrow, Dak Prescott, CJ Stroud. Even Bryce Young and Zach Wilson are on bye who likely were your bye-week fill-ins.

In Bagent’s defense, he did technically outproduce Fields in his half of play, averaging a higher completion percentage, more yards per attempt, and even scored a rushing touchdown. As mentioned previously, the Bears do play Vegas, so it’s not a terrible matchup, but again… you would then be starting Bagent in your superflex spot. Regardless, he’s worth an add in superflex leagues.

Craig Reynolds, RB DET

But we’re not done with the injuries, not even close. In the Lions game, David Montgomery left with a rib injury and with Jahmyr Gibbs also out, Detroit turned to Craig Reynolds who had a really bad game, albeit it was the Buccaneers run defense. But we can’t ignore the potential volume that Reynolds could see in week seven if both Gibbs and Montgomery were to sit, especially in this running back economy with the number of guys on IR, plus bye weeks for Joe Mixon, Tony Pollard, Derrick Henry, Dameon Pierce, and Breece Hall.

It’s not a fantastic matchup against Baltimore, but the aforementioned Derrick Henry did rush for 97 yards and a score in London, Zack Moss had 122 yards against them a few weeks ago, and other committee backfields have combined for 75+ yards with enough volume. Reynolds 100% should be added in every league and could be thrown right into your starting lineup if you’re desperate.

Jordan Mason, RB SF

Like I said, we’re not done with injuries because now we have to talk about Christian McCaffrey leaving the game with an oblique injury. Per Jeff Mueller, he doesn’t expect CMC to miss any games, but should the Niners choose to sit him this week, Jordan Mason would become an interesting flier at running back. Elijah Mitchell returned to play for the first time since week six, but rushed for -3 yards on two carries. Mason totaled 27 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.

This could be an Emari Demercado situation where the third-stringer only saw volume because of an injured second-stringer, so Mitchell could very easily be the guy next week if CMC is out, but Mason has at least made his case to be involved and we can’t discount anyone who could see double-digit touches in this Niners backfield.

Tyquan Thornton, WR NE

I wanted to just shout out Thornton on here too as a potential add if he’s still available in your league. Thornton was on IR all season and was just activated this week for his first game of the season. He didn’t have massive usage, and only saw a couple of targets, but he is by far the most explosive player in this receiving corps that desperately needs playmakers. He was actually a nearly identical prospect to Christian Watson last year, so that just shows you the type of skillset he possesses. He’s highly rostered already in 85% of MFL leagues already, but if he is available and you have a roster spot for an interesting stash, Thornton is your guy.
