In case you are reading this, there is one bit of information to know before you start reading names. Just like last year’s series, we will be utilizing player rostership percentages, courtesy of real dynasty rosters from 1,700 MFL leagues. While this may not be entirely accurate for every individual league, it is very reflective of how managers view who is worthy or not of a roster spot. Now that that’s covered, let’s dive into the waiver wire after week 16!

Players to double-check availability and immediately add:

CJ Beathard, QB JAC

Another week, another Trevor Lawrence injury. I can’t imagine Jacksonville throwing him out there to start again for the regular season and roll the dice with Beathard to win the division and make the playoffs. At the very least, maybe Lawrence sits in week 17 to then be healthy for a pivotal week 18 matchup to win the division, so Beathard could be the starter for the Jaguars during championship week.

I know you would have to be in a dire situation to have to start Beathard this week, but we have seen a bunch of backup quarterbacks play surprisingly well and perform for fantasy, and Beathard has also produced for fantasy before. In just a quarter of play against Tampa Bay on Sunday, he threw for 94 yards and a touchdown, and added an extra 6 yards on the ground. Over an entire game, that’s a pretty good stat line that could help you win the championship this year.

Chris Rodriguez, RB WAS

I’ve mentioned Rodriguez before in this article as the primary beneficiary of the injury to Brian Robinson, and he delivered this week against the Jets with almost 20 fantasy points, rushing for 58 yards and two touchdowns in a split backfield with Antonio Gibson. If Robinson is out again, Rodriguez could be an intriguing flex play in championship week, or more interestingly serve as a great stash for the 2024 off-season with Gibson entering free agency. He’s already rostered in a ton of leagues (he’s the highest rostered player in today’s article), so he might not be available in your league, but double check your waivers and if he is available, he’s a must-add for all teams.

Andrei Iosivas, WR and Charlie Jones, WR CIN

Speaking of more interesting flex plays for week 17 and simultaneous 2024 stashes, I highlighted the pair of Bengals receivers in Andre Iosivas and Charlie Jones last week and I need to bring them up again. Without Ja’Marr Chase this week, Iosivas seemed to be the most direct replacement as the big-bodied receiver on the outside, hauling in four of his team-high eight targets for 36 yards. Assuming he maintains that role in week 17, he also could be an interesting flex play for a desperate championship team, but also fits as a great off-season stash with Tee Higgins entering free agency.

And then there is Charlie Jones, who was much quieter this week statistically (only one catch for -1 yards on his only target) but I still like stashing Jones because I believe he works as the backup to Tyler Boyd, who is also entering free agency in the off-season. So with Iosivas replacing Chase this year and possibly Higgins next year, Jones could be in line to replace Boyd in the slot next year, making him a great stash too.

Dontayvion Wicks, WR GB

Another receiver I have to mention as a great stash for 2024, but becoming less and less available every week, is Wicks. And I’m just going to be honest here, I think Wicks is the second-best wide receiver on the Packers behind Jayden Reed – I think he’s that good. Wicks was coming into this game off the best performance of the season with 6-97 in Week 15 and his seventh straight game with four or more targets.

Unfortunately, he got hurt at the end of the first half, but not before hauling in 29 yards and a touchdown on two receptions, pacing for perhaps another strong game with both Christian Watson and Reed out. Wicks is a massive add if he is still on waivers for the 2024 season and could be named in every sleeper article or video made between now and the start of next season, which will raise his price astronomically from where it is now, so get in while you still can at basically free prices.

Demarcus Robinson, WR LAR

But perhaps the best flex play for week 17 that you could find off the waiver wire, Robinson is still somehow massively available in a ton of dynasty leagues right now. Robinson continued his streak of double-digit PPR performances and games scoring a touchdown to four in a row now, acting as the Rams WR3 since the beginning of the month and scoring between 10-20 fantasy points every single week. And the best part is the Rams get the New York Giants this week, who came into week 16 as the fifth-worst team against wide receivers on the year and have given up double-digit PPR performances to other receivers like Demario Douglas, Jahan Dotson, Jakobi Meyers, Jayden Reed, Brandin Cooks, and Michael Gallup all just since week 9. The Rams have found their groove to end the year and Robinson has been a major benefactor of this improved offense, and he could offer another double-digit flex start for a championship team in week 17.
