IDP Snap Counts: Week 15

Tom Kislingbury

It’s been a long season and we’re just one step away from glory . . . .

Arizona Cardinals

With Terrell Suggs released last week, Cassius Marsh (49) stepped up to play a bigger role alongside Chandler Jones (66).

AT LB Joe Walker (58) again played a much bigger role than Haason Reddick (23), but Walker did not have a full-time job.

Atlanta Falcons

DE Takk McKinely (four) saw very little action after he was hurt. Adrian Clayborn (44) played more as a result.

Baltimore Ravens

Although everyone seems to think the Ravens are heading for a reunion with Suggs, they seem happy with their current edge options. Matt Judon (50) and Jaylon Ferguson (43) lead the way with Tyus Bowser (24) filling in.

Safety Chuck Clark (59) and Earl Thomas (59) both had big days as pass rushers too against the Jets. I don’t think that’s going to be normal for them.

Buffalo Bills

Another boringly steady week from this good Bills defense. There were no major changes this week.

Carolina Panthers

Brian Burns watch: just seven snaps this week. He played 45 snaps per game before Bruce Irvin was fully fit in week five. Since then he’s played 25 snaps per week.

Chicago Bears

The Bears are missing both Roquan Smith and Danny Trevathan. Their LBs this week were Kevin Pierre-Louis (47) and Nick Kwiatkoski (59).

DE Akiem Hicks returned after injury. He played just 36 snaps.

Cincinnati Bengals

DE Sam Hubbard (54) returned from injury. Carl Lawson (30) lost out as a result as he slid back into his specialist role.

Germaine Pratt got closer to an every-down role with 49 snaps (from 65). He has some bizarrely strident supporters. His college tape was intriguing, but he’s been utterly awful as a pro.

Cleveland Browns

Our collective excitement about Cleveland really was hilariously optimistic wasn’t it?

The biggest change this week was Juston Burris seeing just 40 snaps at safety, well behind Damarious Randall and Sheldrick Redwine (both 61).

Dallas Cowboys

LBs Justin March-Lillard (30) and Chris Covington (26) both received a little playing time this week. Neither are players I’m adding.

Safety Jeff Heath (47) returned from injury and played in place of Darian Thompson (26) with Donovan Wilson (12) also seeing some action.

Denver Broncos

Aside from Von Miller (59) being fully healthy again there were no big changes this week for the Broncos.

Detroit Lions

CB Rashaan Melvin (68) came back to the team after some weeks out. Rookie Amani Oruwariye (13) lost out.

DE Austin Bryant (34) saw his biggest snap total as a pro. Frank Herron (43) played even more at DT with Da’Shawn Hand and A’Shawn Robinson both out again.

Jarrad Davis missed the game through injury. It was suggested by one major news source this was a bad thing because the Lions would miss his coverage ability! Hilarious. In his absence Jahlani Tavai (70) stepped up to play the most snaps he’s seen as a pro with Jalen Reeves-Maybin (50) also seeing a heavy workload covering for Christian Jones.

Green Bay Packers

Kevin King (84) returned at corner.

Neither Oren Burks (three) nor B.J. Goodson (zero) is a thing at LB.

Houston Texans

Safety Jahleel Addae gets a lot of love. He’s got dreads and a cool name so he’s memorable. He played 20 snaps this week. Just 31 over the past three games. He’s tough to make room for on rosters.

Indianapolis Colts

Corner has been tough to predict all year for the Colts. This week Kenny Moore was out and Quincy Wilson managed just four snaps leaving Rolan Milligan (50) had to play again.

Khari Willis (68) was productive at safety. It’s not a great IDP role right now because he’s not quite a full-time player, though. Don’t assume that because he had a good week, he’ll do that every week. That’s silly.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Josh Allen (29) had a sack from a relatively low-volume day. Yannick Ngakoue (64) had two sacks from more volume. Calais Campbell (64) had no sacks from a lot of volume. Pass rush production is intrinsically variable.

Interestingly, Allen has more sacks than the others while playing the least for the season and Campbell has the most snaps and the fewest sacks.

Donald Payne was a red-hot name on Sunday pre-games. The gamble paid off with a huge day. He played all 75 snaps and was the only LB to do so.

Safety Ronnie Harrison (75) came back to fitness and instantly played every snap. He’s pretty much a must-start.

Kansas City Chiefs

Alex Okafor (five) suffered a nasty injury early at DE. It looks like he’s out for the season.

Frank Clark (46) played the most since week 11 as a result.

All the LBs remain desperation starts. You can do better.

Darius Harris actually led the unity with 41. Yuk.

Los Angeles Chargers

CB Mike Davis (53) returned to the team. So, Brandon Facyson was limited to just 11 snaps.

Drue Tranquill dropped back to just 36 (of 65) snaps with Thomas Davis (53) again leading the unit. I imagine some hearts were broken by Tranquill’s correspondingly poor productivity.

Los Angeles Rams

CB Troy Hill was hurt and played just eight snaps. Darious Williams (61) came in for him.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins are just playing made-up people at corner now. Nate Brooks (27) and Linden Stephens (24) got on the field this week.

Minnesota Vikings

Xavier Rhodes played just 14 snaps this week after 29 the week before. Apparently, this is not injury-related. He’s just not been very good for a while now. Mike Hughes (46) and Mackensie Alexander (48) led the unit in playing time with Trae Waynes (27) and Holton Hill (31) both involved. This is not a good unit for IDP corners.

New England Patriots

CB Jonathon Jones (30) was limited this week.

DE Deatrich Wise (46) saw by far his biggest workload of the season. He’d averaged just 15 snaps per game previously.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints played just 56 snaps on Monday night, so scoring was depressed for them.

DE Marcus Davenport missed the game through injury. Trey Hendrickson played just 29 snaps, but Carl Granderson came in to play 28. He hadn’t featured since week seven.

A.J. Klein returned for 50 LB snaps which was actually more than Demario Davis (47).

With Vonn Bell out at safety, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson played 40 snaps and moved around the formation. He was not a full-time player, though, as Saquan Hampton played 16 snaps, too.

New York Jets

Jamal Adams continues to be out with a bad case of I-do-not-want-to-be-a-Jet-itis.

New York Giants

With Janoris Jenkins cut, Corey Ballentine (62) played alongside Deandre Baker (69) and Sam Beal (71) at corner. What a rough unit.

Julian Love (71) continues to play safety.

Oakland Raiders

CB Daryl Worley missed the game. Nevin Lawson (56) came in instead.

LB Will Compton led the unit with 57 snaps. He’d played just 67 total in his previous six games as a Raider. Tahir Whitehead (34), Nicholas Morrow (22) and Marquel Lee (19) were all pretty useless.

D.J. Swearinger was out at safety which left Dallin Leavitt (30) to make his debut as a defender.

This defense is appalling.

Philadelphia Eagles

There were no major changes this week for the Eagles. They’ve also played just 105 snaps in their last two games – very low volume.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Devin Bush (54) actually played the most he has in a few weeks with Mark Barron on just 24 (I believe he took a knock). Neither are ideal starts next week.

Seattle Seahawks

Shaquill Griffin missed the game at CB. Akeem King (72) played in his place with Ugo Amadi (25) also seeing action.

Jadeveon Clowney and Ziggy Ansah both missed out at DE, so LJ Collier (37), Quinton Jefferson (46) and Rasheem Green (45) all saw increased workloads.

With LB Mychal Kendricks again out, Cody Barton played 58 snaps for the second week in a row.

Quandre Diggs took a knock and was restricted to just 35 snaps. Delano Hill (43) came in.

San Francisco 49ers

Emmanuel Mosely (66) played corner in Richard Sherman’s absence.

Dee Ford has played just four snaps in four games after missing this week. He’s been an appalling value.

Jaquiski Tartt missed the game at safety. Which meant D.J. Reed (49) played.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jordan Whitehead saw just 30 snaps at safety. Darian Stewart stepped in with 34 snaps. Mike Edwards (23) and Andrew Adams retained their part-time roles.

Tennessee Titans

There were no major changes on a Titans defense that has become fairly dull again. There are interesting players on this team, but it’s just not fun to watch as a unit.

Washington Redskins

Some guy called Danny Johnson played 55 snaps at corner. Ignore him.

Jon Bostic (70) continues to lead the LBs with Cole Holcomb (56) in a limited but sporadically productive role.

Ryan Kerrigan missed the game on the edge with rookie Montez Sweat seeing 61 snaps, his most of the season. Ryan Anderson played 64, which was also extremely high for him. He put up big numbers but he’s still not very good. He has four sacks in his last four games, but just eight total pressures. That indicates a weird run of luck – not a player that’s suddenly become brilliant.

Good luck in your title matches everyone. I wish you all the luck in the word.
