Monday Mocks: 2025 “What If” Rookie Mock Draft

Ryan McDowell

Welcome to Monday Mocks, where I’ll bring you…you guessed it, a new mock draft every Monday during the off-season. In my opinion, drafting is the best part of fantasy football, so I do as much of that as I can. This series will be filled with all types of mocks. We’ll draft startups, rookies, devys, and more.

Each year, the closer we draw to the draft, the more information we collectively learn. This means the mock drafts that were once a futile exercise begin to look more and more realistic. One of my favorite NFL Draft analysts, Matt Miller, released a full seven-round NFL mock draft. These are always my favorite because of the depth. Of course, the players near the top of the draft will also claim early picks in rookie drafts but the later-round selections can be crucial dynasty assets as well.

This week’s superflex dynasty rookie mock is based solely on what Matt projected in his full NFL mock draft. We’ll assume he nailed both the landing spots and draft capital that are so crucial in ultimately determining a player’s dynasty value. To help me with this mock draft, I asked my DLF Podcast co-hosts, Matt Price and Dan Meylor to join me. Of course, I took the first pick, because Ashton Jeanty, with Matt and Dan following, in that order. We alternated picks for three rounds and it was already easy to see values changing. I can’t wait for the NFL Draft!

ROUND ONE:

1.01 Ashton Jeanty, RB CHI (Round 1, Pick 10)

Jeanty is already basically locked in as the top overall pick, regardless of what happens on draft weekend. Earning top-ten overall draft capital and landing with the up-and-coming Bears offense would further cement his value as the top rookie available and a top-five dynasty back.

1.02 Cam Ward, QB TEN (1.01)

The top quarterback off the board is Ward, who is expected to be the Titans’ 1.01 pick, as he is here in Miller’s mock draft. Ward would step in immediately as the starter, most likely, considering that the team has already benched Will Levis in the past. While the weapons in Tennessee are questionable, we should still have high expectations based on the coaching staff.

1.03 Omarion Hampton, RB LAC (1.22)

We discussed it on the DLF Dynasty Podcast when veteran Najee Harris signed with the Chargers, but I would not be surprised if the Chargers still used an early pick on the running back position. Here, they get aggressive, adding Hampton with their first-rounder. It could be a slow start to his career, thanks to sharing the backfield with the veteran for a year, but Hampton would easily pay off this lofty draft position in the Chargers’ run-first and second and sometimes third offense.
