2017 was an historic draft class for running backs. Leonard Fournette and Christian McCaffrey were top ten picks. Dalvin Cook, Joe Mixon, Alvin Kamara, Kareem Hunt, James Conner, and Aaron Jones all went on to have top 12 running back seasons. Samaje Perine, D'Onta Foreman, Tarik Cohen, and Jamaal Williams all had solid NFL and fantasy careers. That kind of hit rate for a class of running backs is nearly unprecedented. Compare that to last year, which could be a one running back class in Bucky Irving (though it is still early). This year’s class of running backs could be even better than 2017’s, with a generational talent at the top and plenty of depth beyond that.
