Welcome to Monday Mocks, where Ryan typically brings you…you guessed it, a new mock draft every Monday during the off-season. Ryan is out on assignment this week, so I thought it would be a good time to bring you something that's going to become really relevant, really soon - a Superflex Rookie Mock Draft. With the NFL Draft now just a few days away, landing spots are going to become reality instead of speculation very soon. This mock draft is of the "one man" variety, meaning I'm making the selections as I would if I was in a league drafting today. Things will certainly change in the coming days, but this is where my mind is, at least pre-draft.
Let's go!
I'm having a hard time believing anyone other than Jeanty is going to be the 1.01 in both traditional and Superflex formats. While Cam Ward is certainly winning the Titans over and looks to be the top overall selection, Jeanty looks like a locked and loaded pre-draft RB1 in the mold of Saquon Barkley, Ezekiel Elliott, Ricky Williams or another number of runners taken in the top ten. When you run for 2,600 yards and 29 touchdowns, teams are going to take notice and I fully expect him to go in the top ten of the NFL Draft and solidify this spot.
This pick gets a little tougher for me. Part of me wants to go with Ward as quarterbacks carry so much weight. However, it really looks like Hampton is rising in draft circles and I'm assuming he goes to somewhere like Dallas, Las Vegas, or Denver to be a true three-down option. Ward is the best quarterback in the class, but the class is weak in general. After posting a whopping 30 touchdowns over the past two years and impressing scouts all off-season, Hampton is the choice for me. We'll see if that changes on Thursday.
