Dynasty Trending Observations: Cooper Kupp, Aaron Rodgers and Deebo Samuel Moving On

The 2024 season has concluded, and the 2025 season has officially begun. There’s not much in the way of transactions to analyze, but there’s lots of potential. Below are a few of the players who will be moving on and how that can impact their dynasty value.
Hanging with Mr. Cooper
I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.

Between the recent injury history, age, and huge cap hit, this development was bound to happen – Rams receiver Cooper Kupp will be moving on this off-season to another team. The 30-year-old should be in demand, especially since the Rams are willing to eat some of the salary. That opens up all sorts of possibilities as to Kupp’s next stop.
What his next team is getting is up for debate. He did manage to play 15 games this last season after missing half the season in 2023. But the production fell off a cliff, undoubtedly because of the emergence of the Rams’ new go-to receiver Puka Nacua. Kupp finished with 62 receptions, 869 yards, and five touchdowns to barely finish as a top-40 fantasy receiver.
But those stats also fall in line with most of Kupp’s career. Remember, he’s only had two 1,000-yard seasons in his seven-year career. He’s only finished in the top 20 of fantasy receivers twice.
That 2021 season was certainly one for the (record) books but how much longer can Kupp and his dynasty managers coast off it?
Dynasty Impact: No matter where Kupp ends up, he won’t be forced targets quite like he was in Los Angeles. He may have Matthew Stafford again – the latest rumors are both ending up on the Giants – but nothing will compare to the pass factory that is Sean McVay’s mind.
Currently, his dynasty value is taking a nose dive.
There will be an inevitable bump after his team is known and a grace period is in full effect. And that’s not to say he could be a good value on the trade market. Currently, our DLF Trade Analyzer has him valued on the line of a first and second-round rookie pick. If you do move him, make sure you’re only paying the second-round price and not the first.

And so the Aaron Rodgers experiment in a New York Jet uniform comes to an end. Over two seasons, he played in 18 games, won six of them, and set the franchise back in the process after you consider the money, draft picks, and time invested in him. His next move surely won’t cost as much – either in money or picks – but will still draw plenty of attention.
What kind of quarterback is Rodgers now? Certainly not the MVP-caliber he was in 2020 and 2021. But, contrary to some, also not in rapid decline. In his last season in Green Bay, at age 39, he threw for 3,695 yards and 26 touchdowns while throwing 12 interceptions. In 2024, his only full season in New York, he threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions. In each of those seasons, he was good enough for a top-15 fantasy finish and a viable option in superflex leagues.
Dynasty Impact: The profile of Rodgers’ next team will have a certain look. It will need a veteran quarterback who believes it’s close to competing, if they’re not already there, while also not having a viable option on the current roster. This could be the Steelers, who have been looking for a decent option ever since the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger, and, according to Vegas, currently have the best odds to acquire him.
That same profile could also apply to the 49ers who are, surprisingly, one of the teams with good odds as well. Until an extension with Brock Purdy materializes, Rodgers to San Francisco will always float out there possibly until Rodgers retires. Should Rodgers end up with one of those, his value would hold steady if not ascend because of the talent and coaching around him.
However, he could also end up on a team that plans on drafting a quarterback towards the front of the NFL Draft which would make Rodgers a mentor again like he was in Green Bay. It would also mean he ends up on a team that is coming off a bad year and will need a lot of help outside the quarterback position to start competing again. Teams like Tennessee or Las Vegas could use his services but are also prime candidates to take a quarterback.
Rodgers’s current dynasty value places him on the third or fourth-round rookie pick in superflex leagues. If you can hold off on making a decision, a third would make sense if he ends up with a contender while a fourth would be better if he’s playing mentor.
New Home Deebo
Checked around a little on the Deebo Samuel situation — I asked if this is at all similar to 2022, when he asked to be traded, the 49ers looked, but then he came back on a new deal.
I'm told, no, this is not similar.
Everybody's set for Deebo to be an ex-49er soon.

Whether the 49ers championship window is closing or not, they’ll move forward without receiver Deebo Samuel. A fantasy league winner in 2021, Samuel has had his ups and downs since then thanks to injuries, personnel moves, and more. Now 29 years old and with one year left on his contract, there won’t be a better time for the 49ers to move on. For Samuel, he still has some explosiveness, especially in the short game whether it’s receiving or rushing, and can still be a Swiss Army Knife just not one used as much. For example, he’ll never match the usage he had during his lone All-Pro season when he saw 121 targets and 59 rush attempts. But assuming he ends up in a place that wants him and possibly signs him to an extension, what does that mean for his dynasty managers?
Dynasty Impact: After peaking three seasons ago, his decline has been consistent with his dynasty value at its lowest point since his rookie season.
According to our DLF Trade Analyzer, that puts him on the first and second-round rookie pick line. Much like Kupp above, it would be nice to only give up the second rather than the first. Also like Kupp, Deebo is older and his track record has been spotty outside of one massive season. But unlike Kupp, Samuel offers more dimensions to his game and shouldn’t be as dependent on a landing spot before gauging his dynasty value.
