Dynasty League Football is the premier source for dynasty fantasy football analysis, and its contributors are some of the top minds in the industry. So, we needed to figure out how the team at DLF feels about the 2024 class of rookies! We surveyed the team, and we’ll analyze the results in a four-part series, continuing here with the wide receivers!
When it comes to dynasty fantasy football, wide receivers run the show. The same can be said for the 2024 NFL Draft. This group of wide receivers is amongst the best we have ever seen entering the NFL! We should see three wide receivers go in the first ten picks, and upwards of five more get the call on day one of the draft! With so much draft capital invested in these receivers, the stakes for rookie drafts are higher than ever. You don’t want to be the fantasy manager that takes Jalen Reagor while Justin Jefferson is still on the board! Let’s take a look at the players who are generally considered the top 10 receivers in this draft, and where the contributors at DLF rank them for dynasty fantasy football!
If you frequent the DLF Expert Rookie Rankings page, you’ll think these rankings look nearly identical to what the expert rankers had to say. 1-9, the rankings are exactly the same, except Ladd McConkey jumped ahead of Troy Franklin for this exercise.
There are two notable things to take note of at the top of the board. First, Marvin Harrison Jr. is NOT the consensus WR1 in this class, like he is in the expert rankings. In fact, one contributor ranked him all the way down at third in his rankings. “I think Harrison is a safer pick,” John DeBari explained. “But I actually have Odunze and Nabers ahead of him in my rankings right now.”
To me, Marvin Harrison is in a tier by himself in dynasty rankings and will be the number one receiver no matter what happens during the NFL Draft. For that reason, I had to ask, “is there a scenario where Marvin Harrison Jr. isn’t the number one wide receiver for dynasty after the NFL Draft.” Only 38.5% of responses said that Harrison is locked into his ranking as the number one receiver.
The biggest concern for survey responders was the possibility that Harrison ends up with the Patriots. Addison Hayes said that if he lands in New England, and Malik Nabers ends up in Arizona or LA, then he would move Nabers ahead of Harrison. In my opinion, I don’t care what team he ends up on, Harrison is the number one receiver in this class. To quote his former college quarterback, CJ Stroud, ““Whoever’s up there, be smart. Don’t be dumb. Don’t think too hard.”
The second notable takeaway from the top of the board is that Nabers is solidly ahead of Rome Odunze on these rankings. In fact, 76.9% of the contributors ranked Nabers over Odunze in their surveys. The DLF Expert Rankings paint a similar picture, with 75% of them ranking Nabers as their preferred number two wide receiver. Odunze has always been a favorite of mine in this draft class, so I was one of the contributors who ranked him ahead of Nabers. But, the common thought in the draft community certainly seems to prefer Nabers.
After they ranked these ten wide receivers, I asked the contributors if anyone should be in the top 10 over the ones that I provided. The most popular response was Ricky Pearsall, who has actually moved into the 10th spot over Xavier Legette on the DLF Expert Rankings. I’m very excited to see where Pearsall ends up in the NFL Draft and he could be an outstanding value in rookie drafts if he falls into the middle of the second round. Other popular top 10 picks were Roman Wilson, Ja’Lynn Polk, Malik Washington and Jalen McMillan.
