January Dynasty ADP Risers and Fallers

John Hesterman

Dynasty ADP is an ever-changing construct, and player value is a foundational piece of building strong rosters. In this series, we explore those values by studying changes in players' average draft position compared to the previous month.

The ADP reflected is the latest January data for a 12-team, single quarterback, PPR scoring startup.

There is a lot to cover, so let’s get down to business.

Jalen McMillan, WR TB +65.58

Prior to their week 11 bye, Tampa Bay’s promising rookie McMillan had one touchdown and 109 receiving yards.

He finished the season with eight touchdowns and 461 receiving yards - an impressive conclusion to his rookie season in terms of fantasy points over midseason expectation.

Chris Godwin’s season-ending injury paved the way for McMillan to get what he needed - opportunity paired with meaningful snaps.

The strong finish has led to one of the largest jumps in the most recent dynasty ADP. McMillan skyrocketed just over 65 spots and is currently the WR34.

McMillan showed enough to catch the intrigue of dynasty managers. While his value is on the rise, his return value in the trade market becomes a topic of interest. While some may view him based on box score and think, “nose for the end zone” or “touchdown machine," he can also be viewed as touchdown-reliant for fantasy scoring and needs an injury ahead of him to see the kind of snaps required to put up points.

The future could hold a gold mine or Iron Pyrite. All that being said, at a high-end WR3 cost, McMillan feels like more of a golden opportunity to sell than hold, especially for teams that may be lacking at other positions.
