Dynasty Statistical Edges: Season Recap
If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve probably noticed a series of tweets I share on a weekly basis regarding player and team defensive performances, all from a fantasy lens. I’m going to be sharing some of that same information with you here.
I use this each week as I am making my own lineup and waiver wire decisions and thought you might find this valuable as well.
Note: The scoring system used for this data is always PPR with four points for passing touchdowns.
With the fantasy football season now in the books, this will be the final edition of Dynasty Statistical Edges for the year. I’ll take a quick look at the top producers for the Week Seventeen slate, but this will have a heavier focus on the season long performances.
Quarterbacks
Week 17 QB1s

QB1 | Lamar Jackson, BAL | 36.34 |
QB2 | Jordan Love, GB | 28.44 |
QB3 | Justin Fields, CHI | 25.22 |
QB4 | Kyler Murray, ARI | 23.68 |
QB5 | Joe Flacco, CLE | 22.66 |
QB6 | Josh Allen, BUF | 21.16 |
QB7 | Jake Browning, CIN | 21.08 |
QB8 | Dak Prescott, DAL | 20.30 |

QB10 | Jalen Hurts, PHI | 19.18 |
QB11 | Tyrod Taylor, NYG | 18.76 |
QB12 | Brock Purdy, SF | 17.60 |
In the week’s marquee matchup, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens waxed the Dolphins as Jackson presumably locked up the league’s MVP race. Jackson passed for 321 yards along with five touchdown strikes. It’s just the third five-score passing game by any quarterback this season. Many were understandably hesitant to rely on veteran Joe Flacco against the Jets defense but he stayed hot, passing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. We’re still waiting for Deshaun Watson’s first 300-yard passing game with the Browns, while Flacco has reeled off four straight.

QB11 | Russell Wilson, DEN | 256.90 |
QB12 | CJ Stroud, HOU | 255.46 |
With most fantasy leagues not participating in Week Eighteen games, many will consider this the final list of QB1s for the season. That’s also how I view it. Josh Allen finishes as the overall QB1 for the year, his third overall QB1 finish in the past four seasons. Jordan Love ends up as the QB5 for the season, which is certainly a shock considering the uncertain expectations entering the season along with the cold stretch he and the Packers endured mid-year. Patrick Mahomes finishes as a disappointing QB7 for the season despite playing every game. His lack of weapons on offense finally had the impact many feared and his ceiling production was not there for much of the season.
Russell Wilson bounced back from a terrible 2022 campaign to produce another QB1 season, just barely. Of course, that ended with him being benched and will ultimately result in his release. That makes him one of the more intriguing names on the list as the only player among the top-twelve we can be confident will be playing with a new team in 2024. Finally, despite missing multiple games, the rookie superstar CJ Stroud ekes out a spot on the QB1 list for the season. Moving forward in dynasty leagues, Stroud can now be valued in the same tier as the “big three” of Mahomes, Allen and Jalen Hurts.

With fantasy championships on the line, Kyren Williams did what he has done all season, produce in a major way. Williams totaled 101 yards and scored three times to finish as the overall RB1 for Week Seventeen. Williams missed a month of the season and still only Christian McCaffrey finished with more RB1 performances than the Rams new star back. Breece Hall continued his hot streak to end the season, totaling over 120 yards and a score and rookie De’Von Achane stepped in for the injured Raheem Mostert to post another 100-yard rushing game with a touchdown.

There was no mystery when it comes to the overall RB1 as McCaffrey has had that locked up for weeks, if not months. The gap from McCaffrey to Travis Etienne, the RB2, is nearly the same difference between Etienne and the RB33, Rhamondre Stevenson. Etienne did take advantage of Mostert’s absence to claim the RB2 title, while Hall and Williams rode their late-season streaks to top-five positions for the season. The rookies on this list, Jahmyr Gibbs and Bijan Robinson, showed enough through their first seasons to be valued as top-three backs in dynasty moving forward, while Joe Mixon and Derrick Henry claimed what could well be their final RB1 seasons of their respective careers.

WR12 | Puka Nacua, LAR | 18.70 |
CeeDee Lamb has been on a huge tear since Week Six and that continued in a major way in Week Seventeen as he wrecked the Lions defense to the tune of over 40 fantasy points. Lamb was the definition of “league-winner” this season. A pair of Packers and Giants each cracked the top-twelve for the week, including rookie Jayden Reed. Reed is the WR28 on the season, just behind fellow rookie Jordan Addison. While he has gained tons of value this season, he’s not generally mentioned in the same conversation as other top rookie wideouts, which means he could be a solid trade target early this offseason.

Lamb’s huge Week Seventeen performance boosted him up to the overall WR1 spot for the season, though Tyreek Hill still claims that title based on fantasy points per game. DJ Moore played at a very high level this season while Justin Fields was in the lineup, though the future of the duo will be in doubt as we enter the offseason. Rams receiver Puka Nacua will need 22.4 fantasy points in the season finale to break Randy Moss’ rookie record for fantasy points by a receiver. The Rams have already announced plans to sit Matthew Stafford, Kyren Williams, Cooper Kupp and Tyler Higbee, so Nacua might not see the field enough for this to happen. Regardless, he’s a locked-in dynasty WR1 moving forward following one of the best and most surprising rookie seasons we’ve ever seen.

Isaiah Likely and David Njoku have been league-winners at the tight end position and that continued in Week Seventeen as they each notched top-three finishes at the position. Njoku has been especially impressive since Flacco joined the lineup, which does leave me with some concerns about the tight end’s outlook in 2024.

Not only do we have the rare feat of a rookie finishing as a top-twelve fantasy scorer but after seventeen weeks, Lions Sam LaPorta is the overall TE1, thanks in part to the injury suffered by Vikings TJ Hockenson. With his production and weekly floor, LaPorta is a safe and clear TE1 in dynasty leagues. It says a lot about the tight end position that Mark Andrews season ended weeks ago yet he has retained his spot on the TE1 list.
