Dynasty Fantasy Football Trades
Taking advantage of potential valuation trends in the trade market is imperative. That is even more true during the season when players can experience wild valuation changes on a week-to-week basis. Each week, I will be highlighting some players you should be looking to move or acquire and the reasons why.
Buy - Calvin Ridley, WR JAC
I was very hopeful about Ridley coming into the season. I thought he was a perfect complement to Trevor Lawrence and would be a great fantasy asset. That wasn't the case through the first ten weeks; he flashed occasionally but was significantly outproduced by Christian Kirk. However, over the last two weeks, something has changed. It's not the return of Zay Jones, which some people may suggest. It's the way that the Jaguars have finally decided to use Ridley.
He is still lining up out wide over 70% of the time, as he has done every week this year. However, the Jaguars have used an increasing number of condensed splits, meaning he's lining up closer to the offensive line, allowing him to break inside or outside. Ridley is an elite route runner, but lining up outside and running a mix of go's and comebacks doesn't allow that to show. With the increase in reduced splits, he has been feasting to the tune of 31.1 and 21.9 PPR points across the last two weeks.
There is no reason why this usage should return to his early seasons role, and that is precisely why Ridley is an intriguing buy option. His value has fallen to that of a late first-round pick. If you're a contender, acquiring Ridley as the final piece to put you over the top could be a great move. He will also be a free agent in the off-season and will likely see a value bump when he signs a large extension, which will probably be north of $20m annually.
