Dynasty Injury Impact: Week Four
What do you get when two underperforming wide receivers finally put up 160+ yard performances? Evidently, injury. It was a milder week for injuries, but they happened nonetheless. Perhaps we can take solace that there were no long term or IR-type injuries? Let’s break it down.
PSA: When I list a player in the “notable, but less significant” it can be for one of two things. Either the injury is insignificant or the player is. Can I say that?

Quarterback
Mitchell Trubisky, CHI
Injury: Left shoulder dislocation
Timeframe: Week to week
Now, I never liked to see players injured, but as a Vikings fan, it was… encouraging… to know Trubisky was going to be out the rest of the game after landing awkwardly on his left shoulder – until Chase Daniel looked even better and they still lost (rough year to be a Vikings and Huskers fan). The good news is that while Trubisky is likely out next week, the injury was to his non-throwing shoulder. That means that he should be able to play here in the next couple of weeks, although he will likely need to wear a brace.
Josh Allen, BUF
Injury: Concussion
Timeframe: Day to day
Despite the ardent yelling of Patriots fans, Josh Allen took a dirty helmet-to-helmet hit in last weeks game. Watch and judge for yourself. He finds himself in the league’s concussion protocol. You will have to watch the reports out of training camp as the week rolls on to see if he will be available or not.
Other notable injuries, although less significant for fantasy: Gardner Minshew, JAC (Ankle)
Running Back
Marlon Mack, IND
Injury: Ankle sprain
Timeframe: Week to week
Every ankle sprain seems different. Some take six to eight weeks to heal and others four to six. Evidently, Marlon Mack’s was not as severe, because he’s talking like he’ll be ready for a Week Five matchup with the Chiefs. You will really have to watch practice reports this week.
Other notable injuries, although less significant for fantasy: Jamaal Williams, GB (Concussion)
Wide Receiver
Davante Adams, GB
Injury: Turf toe
Timeframe: Two-three weeks
After blowing up and rewarding those faithful enough to keep starting him, Adams suffered a set-back with turf toe. According to Adams, it was so painful that he couldn’t even put his shoe on. Now, this looks like it should keep him out at least two weeks, but there is a possibility of it taking longer to heal. After all, AJ Green ended up on IR because of turf toe in 2018.
Christian Kirk, ARI
Injury: High ankle sprain
Timeframe: Week to week
You just hate to see an injury happen in general, but one at the very end of the game sucks worse. Despite what looked like a horrifying game of Twister, Kirk was lucky to avoid an MCL injury. However, he did end up with a high ankle sprain. You should expect him to miss Week Five and maybe Week Six. Keep an eye on practice reports.
Jarvis Landry, CLE
Injury: Concussion
Timeframe: Day to day
Bet you didn’t see that performance coming. Landry owners were geared up for a massive day from the Browns number two receiver before he suffered a concussion in the second half. The Browns don’t play till Monday night so he has an extra day to clear concussion protocol before playing the 49ers.
Other notable injuries, although less significant for fantasy: Kenny Stills, HOU (Hamstring Strain), Dontrelle Inman, LAC (Quad Strain)
Tight End
TJ Hockenson, DET
Injury: Concussion
Timeframe: Day to day
After a completely failed attempt to hurdle a defender, Hock landed on his head and shoulders which resulted in a concussion. Luckily the Lions are on bye this week, so you were already making plans to replace him. This gives him more time to heal and possibly be ready for Week Six. Just keep an eye on the practice reports.
