Dynasty Injury Impact: Week 11

PSA: When I list a player in the “notable, but less significant” it can be for one of two things. Either the injury is insignificant or the player is. Can I say that?

All info contained in this article is from the great Matthew Betz. Follow him @TheFantasyPT. He’s an orthopedic physical therapist and provides injury analysis for The Fantasy Footballers. He is a great resource to follow for injury updates.

Quarterbacks

Mitchell Trubisky, CHI

Injury: Hip pointer

Timeframe: Week to week

Trubisky took a big hit in the first half. He was able to play most of the game, but had to come out in the fourth quarter due to the pain. It turns out he suffered a hip pointer and it clearly affected his play. This injury should take a week or two to heal.

Running Backs

James Conner, PIT

Injury: Aggravated AC joint sprain

Timeframe: Week to week

This is the shame in players returning too soon from injury. After sitting out two weeks to rehab his AC joint sprain, Conner re-injured his shoulder this past Thursday. As of now, he is questionable for week twelve and you should expect him to sit out at least this week.

Marlon Mack, IND

Injury: Fractured hand

Timeframe: Three to four weeks

Of course, Mack has a great game and proceeds to fracture his hand. Normally this is a six to eight-week injury, but he had surgery to install hardware that helps stabilize the bone. This puts him on a path to return in three to four weeks.

Damien Williams, KC

Injury: Rib injury

Timeframe: Week to week

Damien Williams suffered what appears to be a similar injury to Emmanuel Sanders. Luckily for him and the teams on which he’s rostered, the Chiefs are on bye in week twelve. This gives Williams an extra week to heal up. Like Sanders, he may need to wear a flak jacket to protect the injury upon his return.

Wide Receivers

JuJu Smith-Schuster, PIT/ Diontae Johnson, PIT/ Phillip Dorsett, NE

Injury: Concussion

Timeframe: Day to day

It’s safe to lump these three together. If you’ve been reading these reports all season, then you know by now that no concussion is the same as another. There is no specific timeframe for recovery as factors like concussion history, severity, and the player himself all play into the recovery time. We will just have to watch practice reports this week to see if any of them are good to go this week.

Auden Tate, CIN

Injury: Concussion and neck injury

Timeframe: Week to week

Tate was not lucky enough to be lumped together with the previous three players, but he was lucky not to fracture his neck last week. He took a big hit from behind from a Raiders defender and had to be carted off the field. He escaped with just a sprain, a.k.a. whiplash. Since he also suffered a concussion on this play, I would assume he sits out this week to heal up.

Tyreek Hill, KC

Injury: Hamstring strain

Timeframe: Week to week

Hamstring injuries ruin fantasy seasons. Just ask Leonard Fournette last year. The good news is that Hill was able to walk off the field. There is a big problem, though, for players that rely so much on their speed: the sprinting motion stresses the hamstring in such a way that the risk of re-injury is high. This injury may linger through the rest of the season, so be cautious.
