It was apparent to everyone the best quarterbacks in the draft were going to be long gone by the time the Panthers picked at eighth overall, so this represents a decent fallback plan if they weren't willing to sell the farm to move up in the draft. The acquisition of Darnold at least gives Carolina the chance to evaluate the former top three pick and see if they can resurrect his career. Barring the Panthers drafting a quarterback in the first round, Darnold will enter camp and compete with Teddy Bridgewater in a battle he should surely win. This is a new lease on life for Darnold, who as our dynasty QB25 has a ways to grow in the coming years. As for the Jets, this certainly locks them in to taking a quarterback (likely Zach Wilson) second overall later this month.
