Off-Season Mock Drafts: Rookie Movers

John DiBari

DLF has recently posted the results from the March mock drafts, and we now have access to that March ADP data. With the first rookie ADP data coming back in February, we can see which direction the incoming rookies are trending over the last two months. Over the last few years of writing this series, I have learned that the early ADP dynasty trends are often sticky- and accurate. This means that with a few exceptions, the players who start sliding down usually keep sliding down, and the players moving up usually keep moving up. In addition, the moves, up or down, are often accurate, at least over players' early NFL careers.

With all that said, let's see what early trends we see in mock drafts.

Quarterbacks

While there wasn't much to see at the quarterback position, three players fell out of the ADP entirely in single quarterback drafts. Kyle McCord, Dillon Gabriel, and Riley Leonard were all drafted in February, but none were selected in March's mock drafts. On the other hand, in superflex drafts, the same 11 quarterbacks were taken in both months, with minimal movement among the players.

The biggest mover in either direction was Louisville's Tyler Shough, who seems to have solidified his place at the tail end of the rookie QB group as the QB7(ish) after coming in as QB10(ish) a month ago. It will be interesting to see what the NFL thinks of him during the draft, as he could easily jump up to QB5 if he gets better draft capital than some of his classmates.
