Dynasty Perspective Through Advanced Metrics: Quarterbacks

Kevin White

Fantasy football is a game decided by numbers. In this four-part series, I’ll be reviewing advanced player metrics via Player Profiler from the 2024 season, to understand the numbers behind the data, outline a contextual story and provide actionable advice in dynasty.

The first article in the series will focus on quarterback, analyzing metrics to give a true reflection of performance and expectations moving forward.

Anthony Richardson, QB IND

  • Pass Attempts: 33rd
  • Danger Plays: 12th
  • Interceptable Passes: 17th
  • Air Yards Per Attempt: 1st
  • True Completion %: 39th
  • Pressure Completion %: 39th
  • Play Action Completion %: 38th
  • Clean Pocket Completion %: 39th
  • Fantasy Points Per Game: 17th

Richardson was lower in pass attempts due to missing six games through injury and his nature as a dual-threat quarterback. Concerningly, he was high-risk as a passer in 2024, with poor metrics in danger plays and interceptable passes, where an increased passing volume would have made this metric even worse. The lack of trust as a functional passer, combined with elite arm strength, led to Richardson leading the league in air yards per attempt - hoping to hit the big play as opposed to methodical marching down the field. Richardson was extremely poor in all pass completion metrics, in any environment, struggling in easy and difficult passing situations. Despite the real-life woes, he was still solid for fantasy as a mid-QB2 in fantasy points per game (FPPG) on the back of rushing ability and explosive plays as a passer.
