Monday Mocks: Dynasty Superflex Rookie Mock Draft

Ryan McDowell

Welcome to Monday Mocks, where I’ll bring you…you guessed it, a new mock draft every Monday during the off-season. In my opinion, drafting is the best part of fantasy football, so I do as much of that as I can. This series will be filled with all types of mocks. We’ll draft startups, rookies, devys, and more.

We’re down to just four NFL teams still alive in the 2023 season, meaning more and more eyes are beginning to look ahead to the 2024 NFL Draft class. More and more NFL mock drafts are being released by the day and we are around five weeks away from the annual NFL Combine.

This is the first of many rookie drafts that will be featured in this weekly Monday Mock series. Here at DLF, we are already deep into our rookie coverage, so I wanted to use this mock draft as a way to put the spotlight on some great work that has already been completed in recent weeks.

For each player mocked in the first round of this superflex rookie draft, I will also include a portion of a recent article featuring that player.

ROUND ONE:

1.01 Caleb Williams, QB USC

From John Arrington’s Early Look: One of the combinations of metrics I look at for QB prospects is Big Time Throw Rate and Intended Air Yards. My research has found that QBs who have a BTTR higher than 5% and an IAY of 9.5 or more have a higher chance of hitting in the NFL. Williams had a BTTR of over 6% each season, but his IAY slipped from 9.7 in 2022 to 9.2 this past season. I still believe that he has what it takes to be a quality NFL starter, but has some work to do to get to that point.

1.02 Marvin Harrison Jr, WR Ohio State

From Tim Riordan’s Early Look: Last year in superflex leagues, Bijan Robinson was the consensus number one pick ahead of all of the quarterbacks. Harrison Jr deserves the same sort of prioritization in 2024. He will be in consideration every week for your starting lineups from week one, and could even be locked in as a WR1 depending on where he lands and the competition for targets on the team. On paper, this seems to be a stronger class of quarterbacks than last year, but that includes more depth at the position. If you pass on QB at 1.01 to take Harrison, there could be a decent quarterback available in the second round, such as JJ McCarthy or Bo Nix.
