Profile: A pair of strong seasons for the Jayhawks has placed Neal firmly on the 2024 draft radar. After rushing for 707 yards as a true freshman despite a less-than-ideal offensive environment, he exploded in 2022. He topped 1,000 yards and was able to see extensive action in the passing game, grabbing 21 receptions for another 183 yards.
Neal entered college already pushing 210 pounds and has only added to his frame, possessing a rocked-up build that allows him to play a rugged style and thrive between the tackles. He likes to put his foot in the dirt and go, offering more of a slashing style as opposed to being a back who will navigate through traffic with quick cuts. A plus pass-catcher who turns into a runner quickly, Neal has the goods to be a three-down runner and despite being well-respected as a talent, he may still be underrated due to the name on the helmet.
2023 Outlook: While a 6-7 record is modest, 2022 was a breakout season for Kansas in many ways. Jalon Daniels became a star. The Jayhawks became a strong offensive team in large part due to Neal and they will lean on him heavily again in 2023 as they look to build on the strides they made last season.
