Free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers is still unsure if he'll play this season.
Read moreThe NFL Draft is right around the corner. Most dynasty football managers have been doing mock drafts and figuring out who their favorite quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends are. While most of those offensive names are fairly well known at this point, defensive players aren’t usually in the draft app systems just yet.
In IDP circles, we have less information to go on at this point in the pre-draft process, than on the offensive side of the ball. So IDP managers are especially keeping an eye on the NFL Draft to see where the top prospects on defense are going to land. Will they land in a system that enhances their skill set or fall into a spot where they are fighting for playing time early in their careers?
This two-round mock is based on a 12-team league, using five positions comprising of DT, DE, LB, S, and CB. We are assuming a tackle-heavy system with high scoring for sacks, takeaways, and DT-premium scoring.
Hunter is an absolute unicorn. The Heisman Trophy winner, in my mind, is the best wide receiver and the best cornerback in this draft. He is a once-in-a-generation type of talent and the best overall player in this draft. His dual eligibility at cornerback and wide receiver makes him so intriguing. Can Hunter play both ways full-time? How much will he play WR? If you can guarantee he plays at least 70 percent of offensive snaps, and qualifies to start in a defensive spot, Hunter has to be the top pick. He is a league winner.
If it wasn’t for Hunter’s possible dual eligibility, Carter would be the clear-cut top IDP pick in this draft. He is a wrecking ball, who has the ability to be a sack machine in the NFL. In a lot of drafts, Carter would be the top pick, and he still might be. Carter is a guaranteed top-five pick with All-Pro upside.
