2025 Dynasty Fantasy Football Rookie Drafts: A View from the 1.05

Lewis Wood

For many dynasty players, the highlight of the off-season is the annual rookie draft, and we are now mere days away from many of those drafts kicking off. Once our respective dynasty teams are eliminated from contention (and sometimes even before), we tend to turn our attention to the incoming rookie class, and delusions of grandeur take over. In fact, dynasty players spend nearly the entire off-season preparing for how they will use their draft picks or if they will use them at all.

In this 12-part series, our team will use the latest data available here at Dynasty League Football, namely our April Superflex Rookie ADP and the Dynasty Trade Finder, to ensure you are as prepared as possible when your draft begins. Based on our most recent ADP data, we’ll suggest the player you could soon be adding to your team, and if you don’t like that, we’ll also include a potential pivot option. In addition, we’ll include options based on the updated 1QB rookie ADP for those who play in that format. Finally, using the Dynasty Trade Finder, we’ll examine some recent trades that have taken place with each specific draft pick.

We all know the first round of rookie drafts includes the players we’ve been hearing about for months, if not years, but difference-makers can be found in the second round and beyond, as well. Because of that, we’ll also address the other picks that accompany each respective first-round draft slot.

Rookie Selection 1.05

The Pick: TreVeyon Henderson

Henderson has vaulted up draft boards in the pre-draft process, being seen in the second tier of running backs behind Ashton Jeanty. My personal RB2, he’s slotted in as the consensus RB3 behind Omarion Hampton. However, his draft value also seems to be climbing, with many analysts now mocking Henderson towards the back of the first round.

Henderson struggled with injuries in college, but still showcased an explosiveness that’s nearly unrivalled in the class. Electric with the ball in his hands, he pairs fantastic one-cut agility with elite vision, enabling him to find the correct crease and burst up the field to turn any play into a chunk play. While he didn’t quite see the volume we would have wanted to see in the passing game in college, the flashes he’s shown highlight the potential for him to be a true three-down back. This is especially the case when you watch Henderson in pass protection – despite a smaller frame, he’s one of the best pass blocking backs in the class.

If he can find his way onto day one of the draft, landing at the back of the first round to a great offense like the Commanders or the Chiefs who have a clear need for explosiveness in the running game, Henderson will be an easy selection at the 1.05.

Rookie Selection 2.05

The Pick: Cam Skattebo, RB

Skattebo’s violent running style has gained him a lot of admirers in the pre-draft process from both fantasy analysts and NFL franchises (with reports at the time of writing that the Arizona Cardinals have fallen in love with his skillset). A punishing downhill runner who was frequently Arizona State’s entire offense, he makes up for a lack of athleticism by running well behind his pads and trying to run over defenders with every possible opportunity. The effort levels and motor are clear to see with Skattebo, which makes it not a surprise that NFL teams are looking towards him in the mid to late second round, per consensus big boards.

His upside may not be as high as some of the other backs in this class, given the limited athletic traits and lack of wiggle to his game, but the floor of Skattebo as an early-down power back and red zone threat is pretty high. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a team target him to be their equivalent of David Montgomery (my comp for Skattebo) if they have a more electric back to thrive in the passing game. Cam Skattebo, you are a Pittsburgh Steeler.

Rookie Selection 3.05

The Pick: Jack Bech, WR

Bech seems to be getting lost in the mire of a talented WR class where there’s little consensus all down the board. However, his physicality and route-running ability showcase one of the safest prospects to project.

Bech is unlikely to be a team’s WR1, but he could easily step in on day one to function as a second option in the passing game in nearly every team in the NFL. There’s always usage for his skillset – a reliable, chain-moving receiver who is willing to leave everything on the field, especially in the run game.

He might not have elite athleticism, but I’m quite bullish on Bech’s floor. If he can land on day two in a spot with an empty enough depth chart, Bech could easily be a steal in rookie drafts.
