DYNASTY FIVE
Here are the five dynasty related stories that have my attention coming off another week of NFL action.
The New Era Quarterback Trio
Week six was excellent for the new era of rookie quarterbacks: Caleb Williams scored four touchdowns en route to his first QB1 overall weekly finish, Drake Maye finished as the QB12 in his rookie debut, and Jayden Daniels registered his fifth QB1 performance in the first six games of his career.
Williams was the consensus 1.01 in 2024 rookie ADP and a dynasty QB1 in startups. Despite an indifferent start to his rookie campaign, Williams has stepped up over the last two weeks, delivering top-six performances, albeit against the lowly Panthers and this week’s domination of the Jaguars in London. Williams has shown flashes of brilliance and a strong dual-threat upside, solidifying him as a low-end QB1 in dynasty for the foreseeable future.
What a fantastic start to Maye’s dynasty career, breathing life into a stuttering Patriots offense and showcasing the raw ability to develop into a solid dynasty quarterback. Arguably in one of the worst situations in the league, Maye has room to develop as his supporting cast improves in the long-term. Maye has a chance to build on a promising start to his career, with his next matchup against a Jaguars side that got destroyed by Williams & the Bears this past weekend.
Daniels lost on the road to a tough Ravens side, however, continued the excellent start to his dynasty career with another strong showing from a fantasy perspective. The QB3 on the season, Daniels is a consensus top five quarterback and considered as high as number one overall in dynasty startups. The trio of rookie quarterbacks all figure to be cornerstone dynasty assets for years to come.
The End Is Coming?
Whilst the rookie quarterbacks excelled, the struggles continued for a quarterback duo whose dynasty days could be numbered – Will Levis and Deshaun Watson.
Levis was facing a positive game environment at home to the Colts, with the Titans coming off their bye week, however, he continued to underwhelm. The Titans lost 20-17 and now sit at a 1-4 record, currently holding the sixth pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Levis is 4-9 as a starter and has been a major disappointment for fantasy – with only one game as a QB1, one game with at least three total touchdowns, and three games with at least 250 passing yards this season.
Levis was a second round draft pick in 2023, with no ties to the current coaching staff, and looks like one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the league. The odds are heavily against him being a starter in 2025 – it could be time to press the eject button and pivot from Levis in a package deal where you can hide his declining stand-alone dynasty value.
you guys calling for Deshaun Watson to be benched simply aren’t aware how incredible this could get pic.twitter.com/3MURKpuD5l

Watson is currently 1-5 on the season, which is hugely disappointing for a Browns team expected to challenge for the playoffs. Watson has yet to return to his early career form and with the weight of his five-year, $230 million, fully guaranteed contract on his shoulders, the pressure is on him to perform immediately. Watson has yet to finish as a top 10 quarterback this season, despite facing the easiest fantasy schedule and with a solid receiving core around him.
He has failed to eclipse 200 passing yards in any game this year and has multiple games with zero passing touchdowns, including this week’s loss at the Eagles. Watson currently sits as the QB27 in fantasy points per game and with pressure for the Browns to start charismatic quarterback Jameis Winston, Watson’s dynasty outlook is murky at best.
King Henry Continues To Reign
The RB2 on the season, 30-year-old running back Derrick Henry continues to dominate fantasy, with a top-four weekly performance and two touchdowns against the Commanders this weekend. Henry has finished as a top-10 running back in each of his last four games, with nine total touchdowns this season – on pace for 25 total scores this year. The fantasy output is exceptional however it should be noted this pace is unsustainable and the average only one reception per game should result in weekly volatility – especially considering the tougher upcoming schedule over the second half of the fantasy season.
Henry is key to contending teams’ push for a playoff bye with a great start to the year. Due to his age and niche situation, there will be limited trade activity on Henry, although any non-playoff ranked team should be looking to pivot with a deal for a future first round pick as the primary target. Contending dynasty teams should continue to ride out Henry into the sunset, as a highly-productive generational talent who continues to defy normality and is projecting to have one of the best fantasy seasons of his career.
The Bucs’ Ambiguous Backfield
One of the biggest shocks of the weekend was the excellent rushing output delivered by the Bucs backfield, with 81 rushing yards from starter Bucky Irving and an eye-popping 136 rushing yards from backup Sean Tucker, playing extensive snaps in place of injured starter Rachaad White, en route to the Bucs 51-27 demolition of the Saints.
#Bucs HC Todd Bowles on whether Sean Tucker’s performance has now turned the backfield into a three-headed monster:
“It’s definitely worthy of him making it a three-headed monster. He took advantage of his opportunities… He made some great plays, he caught the ball well out of… pic.twitter.com/lBfwteWMbn

Tucker had previously totaled just 30 rushing yards over the 16 career games he was on an active gameday roster. The talk of a ‘three-headed monster’ has emerged from head coach Todd Bowles, making this a likely frustrating backfield for fantasy managers moving forward. Tucker is a player who needs to be rostered in all dynasty leagues for the foreseeable future until this backfield becomes clearer.
The player with the most to lose is White, who has been a woefully inefficient rusher, albeit a solid receiving back. With a contract until the end of the 2025 season, White should continue to see usage at the position, however, the stranglehold he had in 2023 is no longer in effect with the emergence of rookie sensation Irving.
Displaying efficiency as a runner and a well-rounded skill set, Irving’s role should continue to grow as we get deeper into his rookie season. With his value on the rise, Irving looks like the running back to own in this backfield, however temper expectations with this being split between two or three players at the position.
Positivity In The Tight End Landscape
Currently the clear TE1 on the year and delivering the best fantasy points per game of his career (17.3), George Kittle is the tight end to own for contending dynasty rosters. In each of his five matchups this season Kittle has delivered a TE1 weekly finish and is averaging a touchdown per game. As I discussed with Henry earlier, the current touchdown pace is unsustainable and the schedule is tougher over the remainder of 2024, however on paper, Kittle still has a great run of matchups remaining this season.
Week six was also excellent for the returning Evan Engram, who had missed the last four games through a hamstring injury, and Mark Andrews, who delivered his best yards and fantasy output since week nine of last season. Engram’s 10 catch and 102 receiving yard effort in London against the Bears resulted in the TE3 finish on the week, moving him into a solid TE1 output on the year. Andrews has shown signs of a return to old form the past two weeks, although this has to continue to regain the trust of dynasty managers expecting much more than the current TE23 in fantasy points per game.
Brock Bowers and Trey McBride are the current young stars of the tight end landscape this season, both delivering top five fantasy output this previous week. With the combination of excellent age and strong fantasy output, Bowers and McBride will be appealing for all dynasty roster builds and should be targeted at cost as cornerstone assets to give you stability at the position for the long-term future.
