Dynasty Fantasy Football Player News

Tyler Boyd signs with Tennessee

Tyler Boyd WR TEN
By: May 7: 1:41 PM EST

The Titans have signed wide receiver Tyler Boyd.

Dynasty Analysis

Amazingly, Boyd has already spend eight years in the league (all with the Bengals). Over the span of his career, he's posted 513 catches for exactly 6,000 yards with 31 touchdowns. The Titans were steadfast in their approach to improve their offense and have now added Tony Pollard, Calvin Ridley and Boyd to a new-look team. The move will certainly have fantasy implications, most notably pushing Treylon Burks down one more spot in the pecking order. Boyd remains a low-ceiling player to have on a dynasty roster but he could have real short-term value should an injury (or a suspension) occur with Hopkins or Ridley.

Jalen Guyton signs with the Raiders

Jalen Guyton WR LV
By: May 6: 7:59 PM EST

The Las Vegas Raiders have signed veteran wide receiver Jalen Guyton.

Dynasty Analysis

The long-time Charger has had his moments over his five-year career but never really put things together consistently in Los Angeles. He'll compete with the likes of Tre Tucker and DJ Turner for a roster spot but he looks buried behind Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, and the newly signed Michael Gallup. As the Stormtroopers would say, "Move along."

Rashaad Penny signs with Carolina

Rashaad Penny RB CAR
By: May 6: 7:55 PM EST

The Carolina Panthers are signing running back Rashaad Penny.

Dynasty Analysis

Penny is going to compete with rookie Jonathon Brooks, Chuba Hubbard, Miles Sanders and Raheem Blackshear for a roster spot this Summer as nothing here should be looked at as guaranteed. Penny has had his moments in the league, including a stretch in Seattle where he was the best fantasy football player in the world for about a month. Unfortunately, injuries have always held him back and he wasn't really even able to sniff the field last year in Philadelphia. Penny's value has dropped all the way down to "watch list," but he'd certainly be roster worthy should he make the team this Fall.

Odell Beckham signs with Miami

Odell Beckham WR MIA
By: May 3: 12:51 PM EST

The Miami Dolphins have signed wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr.

Dynasty Analysis

Beckham has been flirting with the Dolphins for weeks and now it's official. It's a one-year deal worth $3 million with incentives that can push its max value to $8.25 million. The incentives are likely going to be very tough for OBJ to meet with the likes of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle around. Still, it's another fresh start for Beckham, who hasn't had a 1,000-yard season 2019. He's still a hold in dynasty leagues but expecting a late-career renaissance seems to be asking a little too much at this point.

Chase Claypool resurfaces with Bufalo

Chase Claypool WR BUF
By: May 3: 10:28 AM EST

The Buffalo Bills have signed wide receiver Chase Claypool.

Dynasty Analysis

Claypool flamed out in Pittsburgh and was even worse in his time with the Bears and Dolphins over the past two seasons. Still, we know he has talent and this is a pretty good development in dynasty circles, at least putting him back on the map. While he's far from a trade target, this could make him a decent waiver wire pickup in the hopes he can rekindle his career with Josh Allen and a depth chart pretty void of talent.

Najee Harris has option declined

Najee Harris RB PIT
By: May 3: 9:50 AM EST

The Steelers have declined the fifth-year option on running back Najee Harris.

Dynasty Analysis

Harris will now be in a contract year in 2024 as he attempts to re-establish himself as a starting caliber running back in the NFL. He will again likely be deployed in a committee with Jaylen Warren and look to impress Pittsburgh or another team as he searches for a lucrative second NFL contract. He'll need to be more effective than he was last season to do so but he showed some flashes late in the season after the Steelers threatened to move Warren to the "1A" part of the committee. Regardless, Harris remains a hold in dynasty leagues as we see just what he may have to give now that he's in a contract year.

DJ Chark signs with the Chargers

DJ Chark WR LAC
By: May 3: 9:40 AM EST

The Chargers have signed wide receiver DJ Chark,.

Dynasty Analysis

Chark brings a lot of experience to the Los Angeles receiving corps but we haven't seen much from him in terms of production since 2019. After stints in Jacksonville, Detroit, and Carolina, Chark will now join his fourth team in four years, still looking to rekindle that magic. While this is clearly a "wait and see" kind of moment for Chark, it should put him back on the map now that he's paired with Justin Herbert in a new-look Chargers offense.

Michael Gallup signs with Las Vegas

Michael Gallup WR LV
By: Apr 30: 12:21 AM EST

The Raiders have signed free agent wide receiver Michael Gallup.

Dynasty Analysis

Once a very highly thought of dynasty asset, Gallup has seemingly failed to fully recover from an ACL tear he had two years ago. His 34/418/2 season with Dallas last year failed to impress many and he had to wait until after the draft to get signed. Still, it's a decent landing spot and he'll attempt to carve out a role behind Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers. Gallups is far off the dynasty map and can stay on waiver wires, however.

Kyle Pitts gets fifth year

Kyle Pitts TE ATL
By: Apr 29: 6:17 PM EST

The Atlanta Falcons have exercised the fifth-year option on the contract of tight end Kyle Pitts.

Dynasty Analysis

Pitts was great in his rookie season but his play has really fallen off the past two seasons. Atlanta obviously believes their sub-par quarterback play has had a lot to do with that as the likes of Marcus Mariota and Desmond Ridder have held the entire offense back. Pitts will look to bounce back with Kirk Cousins (and maybe even Michael Penix eventually). If you're still a big-time believer in his ability, this off-season will represent what could be the last "buy low" opportunity for him in dynasty leagues.

Travis Kelce gets extension

Travis Kelce TE KC
By: Apr 29: 3:55 PM EST

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a two-year contract extension with tight end Travis Kelce.

Dynasty Analysis

The contract will keep Kelce in Kansas City through the 2027 season, pays him $17 million guaranteed and all but ensures he'll play his entire career in with the Chiefs. This should put to rest the idea he's going to retire any time soon and it looks like Kelce will remain a solid TE1 option for the foreseeable future. While his play took a small step back last season (he failed to reach 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in eight years), it was clear in the playoffs the Chiefs were just saving him for the postseason. If this is a theme, Kelce may not be the elite option we've come to expect as he ages but he's still a solid TE1 each and every week and a solid target for a contending dynasty team now that we know he has no plans to retire any time soon.
