Milroe spent the first couple of seasons at Alabama playing behind future number one overall draft pick Bryce Young, before taking over as the starter in 2023. As a passer he was excellent, registering the same QB rating in his first full season as consensus 2025 number one overall draft pick Cam Ward achieved in his fifth season as a starter. In 2024, Milroe regressed as a passer across the board, albeit he did lose two key weapons after the 2023 season in Jermaine Burton (NFL Draft) and Isaiah Bond (Texas).
