Dynasty Fantasy Football: Early Season Surprises and Disappointments

John DiBari

With four weeks of the NFL season behind us, we are essentially a quarter through the NFL regular season already and getting dangerously close to the halfway point of the fantasy football regular season. And while there is plenty of time ahead of us, I wanted to look at some of the more surprising players in their respective top-12s and some of the top-12 omissions among players who we all thought were top options, who simply haven't lived up to the hype just yet.

Quarterbacks

Sam Darnold, QB MIN

I was originally eyeballing Baker Mayfield here at QB3, but he did have a top-ten finish last year with the same supporting cast, so his early success in 2024 shouldn't be a complete shocker to many. On the other hand, nobody saw this coming from Sam Darnold. Darnold is leading one of only two undefeated teams through four weeks, and if the season continues on this trajectory, he will be an MVP candidate.
