DraftKings Bargains: Week Four

Bruce Matson

It’s that time of the week where we peruse the discount bin at DraftKings to find some hidden gems that we can use our lineups. Finding hidden values allows us to pay a little more at other positions to get the rosters that we are most comfortable with. Being able to take advantage of some of the price points will increase your ability to optimize your overall roster construction.

QUARTERBACK

Andy Dalton, CIN ($5,400)

The Red Rifle has a tremendous matchup against the Atlanta Falcons in week four. So far on the season, through three games, he has passed for 860 yards and eight touchdowns. Both teams can put up points on the scoreboard. We should be expecting Dalton to produce a QB1 week in the box score.

Dalton costs $300 more than Josh Allen and is one of the cheaper quarterbacks on DraftKings this week. He provides a solid floor along with tremendous upside, making him a great play in cash games. He can provide value in tournament formats, but I’m expecting him to be heavily owned due to his price tag.

Vegas has the over/under for this game at 51 points. They also have the Falcons favorited to win this game by six points. The lines are indicating a high scoring game where the Bengals should be trailing during a large portion of the contest. The game script is going to help fuel Dalton’s fantasy production because he’s going to need to consistently pass the ball to keep up with Atlanta’s high-powered offensive attack.

Other options: Eli Manning $ 5,600, Andrew Luck $5,500, Josh Allen $5,100

RUNNING BACK

Kerryon Johnson, DET ($4,400)

Johnson surpassed the century mark for the first time in his young NFL career against the New England Patriots last week. He will be playing against a suspect Dallas defense who allowed 113 rushing yards to a struggling Seattle Seahawks offense. The Detroit Lions have a lot of firepower in their offense and Johnson should get the opportunity to have another big game this week.

He’s a tremendous deal at $4,400, making him one of the cheaper chalk plays for DraftKings. Due to his price tag being so low, his ownership rate should be rather high, making him not optimal for tournament formats. However, his services might be best used in cash games this week considering his low salary will help fill out the rest of your lineup, plus he has the potential to deliver RB1 results.

Bovada has the over/under for this game earmarked at 43.5 points and they have the Cowboys favorited by three points. First off, if you want to place your money on a bet this week, then I would suggest swinging some cash on the Lions because there’s no way the Cowboys can keep up with the Lions’ passing attack.

As for the game flow for this game, I would expect the Lions to come away with the victory. I’m going to consider this an advantageous matchup for Johnson. The Lions will be able to run the ball in this game and Johnson will be the main benefactor of the game flow.

Other options: Carlos Hyde $5,500, Austin Ekeler $4,200, Aaron Jones $4,100

WIDE RECEIVER

Antonio Callaway, CLE ($4,300)

So, the Browns won their first game in 635 days last Thursday Night against the hapless New York Jets. Callaway has been a key component to the Browns’ offense in the last two weeks, receiving 14 targets while playing 85 percent of the team’s snaps. He has also seen 253 air yards in the last two weeks which is a 38 percent market share of the team’s total air yards. The workload is there, and it should eventually stem into fantasy relevant production sooner than later.

If anything, Callaway’s low salary will allow you to pay up at other positions and field a lineup with more upside. He should see a large market share of the Browns targets and there’s a chance that he could be one of the key players in this game. His ownership rates should be low, making him a good play in GPP formats. On the contrary, he might be a little bit too risky to plug into your lineup for cash games.

Bovada has the over/under for this game slated at 44.5 points and they have the Oakland Raiders as three-point favorites. This game is projected to be a high scoring affair, but the game script for the Browns should be favoring Callaway considering that they should be trailing during the majority of the game.

Other options: Allen Robinson $5,900, Nelson Agholor $5,700, John Ross $3,300

TIGHT END

Dallas Goedert, PHI ($2,800)

In week three he caught all seven of his targets for 73 yards and one touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts. This week he will be playing against the Tennessee Titans who have allowed 69 yards to tight ends this season. That doesn’t sound very encouraging, but they haven’t faced a tight end duo like Zach Ertz and Goedert yet this season, therefore there’s a good chance that Goedert and company can provide solid fantasy production this week.

At $2,800, you can’t get much cheaper at tight end without overextending yourself with too much risk. Goedert isn’t a 100 percent safe play since he does have to compete for targets against Ertz. The reasons why I say he’s risky are the same reasons why you should put him in a small percentage of your GPP lineups. He is going to experience a low ownership rate. Combine that with his upside and you have a very promising fantasy asset. Not to mention that his salary will allow you to be able to get some of the higher priced players in your lineup.

Vegas has the over/under set at 41.5 points for this game. They also have the Eagles favored by four points. The spread suggests that the game script might not be favorable for Goedert and the rest of the Eagles’ pass catchers. His price point is the real reason why we want to roster him this week. We know he’s involved in the offense and we are just hoping he gets a couple of catches and a touchdown. His low salary will allow us to stack up at other positions which will create value in its self.

Other options: Ben Watson $3,300, David Njoku $3,200, Ricky Seals-Jones $2,900
