Dynasty Fantasy Football Rookie Profile: Luke McCaffrey, WR Rice

Bruce Matson

The 2024 wide receiver class is being promoted as one of the best wide receiver classes of all time. Considering there are a few generational talents at the top end and plenty of depth throughout the position group. The back end of the rankings could provide some value in the discount bin in dynasty.

Luke McCaffrey is one of those wide receivers who are expected to get drafted on day three of the NFL Draft. He is an afterthought when it comes to dynasty value. We’ve seen wide receivers come out of nowhere before. He’s another late-round prospect that dynasty gamers need to monitor just in case he starts exceeding expectations.

The Stats

McCaffrey was a dual-threat quarterback in high school and was listed as an athlete (ATH) during the recruiting process due to his position flexibility. He was rated as a three-star prospect and ranked as the 29th-best athlete in the class per 247Sports. He signed his letters of intent with Nebraska in December of 2018.

During his freshman season at Nebraska, we saw him appear in four games. In limited action, he managed to pass for 166 yards and one touchdown. Adrian Martinez was the starting quarterback during that time. It was his sophomore season, and he would finish his four-year tenure with the Cornhuskers ranked as the program’s second all-time passer with 8,491 yards right behind Tommy Armstrong.
