The 49ers have signed tight end George Kittle to a four-year extension.
Read moreWelcome to the 'Buy, Sell, or Hold' series where each week I’ll be focusing on one position to analyze four players and what we should be doing with them. This time I’ll be doing something a little different and looking at the first four quarterbacks drafted from this class to examine how I feel about them in upcoming Superflex rookie drafts based on what I think their ADP will be.
Williams has been the projected first overall pick in the NFL Draft for quite some time. He has absolute elite-level arm talent. There are very few people on the planet who can make every throw on the field no matter the position they’re in the way Williams can. Additionally, he has solid mobility and can add with his legs enough to make a difference. Williams's potential ceiling is as good as it gets. Some will knock him for not being able to work in the pocket and run the play as designed but that concern is overblown.
The Move - Williams is absolutely worth the 1.01 and it’s very hard to argue against it. Unfortunately, because of that, it’s very hard to acquire the 1.01 to draft him. Williams is already valued as a fringe first-round startup pick and I’m just never interested in paying that price for a rookie pick since there’s still risk involved no matter how we feel about the prospect. Likewise, I wouldn’t expect anyone to offer me enough to move off the 1.01 if I had it. A classic hold situation.
