Melvin Gordon went unclaimed off waivers from the Broncos.
Gordon is now a free agent and can sign wherever he chooses. The problem is there likely isn't a ton of interest in him since this season has been full of fumbling and a startling lack of production. Still, Gordon has a solid track record and it's likely he signs with a running back needy team at some point this season. His ADP and ranking of RB59 will continue to suffer until that happens.

The Broncos have released running back Melvin Gordon.
Gordon's three-year run in Denver comes to an unceremonious end after he fumbled again in Sunday's rock-bottom loss to Las Vegas. Denver just never seemed to trust Gordon (and why would they) after losing Javonte Williams to a season-ending injury. The eight-year veteran had lost four fumbles on 90 carries this season and was also ineffective on the ground, averaging less than four yards per carry. All that said, it's likely Gordon finds his way to another team and could carve out a decent role in the process. Teams like the Jets, Ravens, Chiefs, Eagles, Commanders, Falcons, and Rams come to mind as teams who could kick the tires on Gordon, whose ranking of RB52 seems likely to slide even further now.

Running back Melvin Gordon scored his second touchdown of 2022 in the team's victory over the Jaguars in London in week eight.
On the day, Gordon produced 29 yards and the touchdown across nine carries while also pulling down 3-of-4 targets for an additional 23 yards. The team still clearly favors Latavius Murray and all running backs on the roster are now touchdown dependent bye-week streamers at best. Gordon was a popular trade target following the season ending injury to Javonte Williams but it now appears as though any price paid for acquisition was likely too much. A free agent in 2023, Gordon is listed as DLF's RB49 and is a quickly fading dynasty asset.

Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett says running back Melvin Gordon will start in week seven.
For what it's worth, Gordon started in week six as well but was pulled from the game after only three carries. Hackett appears at a loss for why the Broncos continue to sputter on offense and likely was just shifting the recipe in an attempt to generate momentum. It didn't work. For Gordon, far more important than starting will be his snap-share as part of a three-back committee and it's hard to imagine that Mike Boone and Latavius Murray won't factor once again, thus limiting Gordon's touches. Another week of poor snaps will result in a quickening pace of decline for DLF's RB45.

Broncos running back Melvin Gordon saw only three touches in the team's week-six loss to the Chargers
Ouch. Gordon has been a popular trade target since starter Javonte Williams tore his ACL but this wasn't the expectation. The team immediately signed Latavius Murray from the Saints' practice squad and emphasized him on Monday night with Mike Boone seeing limited touches as well. Word comes that Gordon did not suffer any injury so the reasoning for the limited work will be a hot question ahead of week seven. Ranked as DLF's RB45, if Gordon sees a similar role in week seven, a massive slide in value will occur for the 29-year-old.

With Javonte Williams out for the season, Melvin Gordon is the de facto starting running back in Denver yet again.
The Broncos were widely booed for re-signing Gordon this off-season, but it looks like a great move at this point. With Javonte Williams out for the year with a torn ACL and LCL, Gordon should have a golden opportunity ahead of him. However, he's been less than impressive thus far and his four fumbles are a serious issue. There's little doubt Gordon will get the first crack at the lion's share of vacated carries and catches, Mike Boone is also in the fold and actually outplayed Gordon this past weekend. His ADP of RB45 is sure to go up, but savvy dynasty owners aren't going to be overpaying for his services quite yet.
